denied because of age almost 16

what kind of sugery is she looking at? vs lap band ryn ds????

She is going for RNY. I have had both RNY and the lap band myself so I have lots of experience. My DH had RNY on Jan 11 and is doing just fine. This has made it even harder for Sabrina because they were going to have it together. I think we will hear something in the next week or so. The holidays made it take a bit longer.

Have You heard anything yet....(your last posting is kinda from  a little while ago so i was just wondering if by now if  you have heard anything.)

WOW. I hope all works out for you. My daughter had surgery on 19 Dec 2006 her 16th birthday. She had RNY and has lost close to 200 lbs. She is doing wonderfully and i woud nt change a thing. Dr Ramsey Dallal from Elkins Park Pa is her surgeon. He is listed on the web site here and if ya cant find it just google Dr Ramsey Dallal, maybe his staff can help ya get answers. Good luck !!!

Hi Chuck, I hope Sabrina can get hers on he birthday aor sooner. I know everything will be better after her wls. Did you have any trouble getting authorization for you DD? I think Pacific Care is just stalling trying to see if I will fight for the surgery. I will until she gets it. Our Dr Higa has done several young patients with great success.

Hi Cathy, I am still trying for surgery myself but, have you tried getting consent from multiple surgeries that it is a medical necesseity?  I have Anthem BC/BS, and I can't have my surgery unless I am 21 or the surgery is medically necessary and I have the consent of two or more surgeons.  I am only 19, and I'll be 20 in July, so this is going to get interesting, and I refuse to wait another year, but I think I can get a few people on my side.  I hope this helps.

Hi Brok, At this point we are waiting for the insurances review of her case . It was sumitted on the 18 th of Jan and they have business days to review it. We may hear sooner but right now it is a waiting game and I am really impatient. Don't give up Brok just keep fighting you will get your wls. I am 56 years old I had wls at 50 and would give anything if I could have had wls at 21 or earlier. I know it would have changed my life for the better.

Hi Brandy and everyone, Well I am sorry to say I just got another denial letter. They say she has not reached her full growth. They use tha mill something guide. They also say she doesn't have enough comorbidies. The fight is not over yet I have an appointment March 6 with the PCP and we will work on the comorbidy thing. I am asking for a sleep study for sleep appnea. Any suggest are welcome and would be appreciated. Some medical references for growth guidlines that show it is achieve when a girl is 15 would help.
