I wanted to make a thread and let everyone know that I am new here and looking for any advice or support that I can get. I have been looking into gastric bypass for almost 3 years now. I would really love to get to know other teens who have had it and talk to them about alot of things dealing with it. A little about me: I am 18 and 5 foot tall. I live in alabama and in my own apartment with my girlfriend amanda. We have a small dog. I would love to make friends so don't hesitate to send me a message or reply here! Erika leigh

Hey Erika, Well my profile has alot of information in it - feel free to browse through, I update it alot. I'm 18,5"3 and I started at 355 lbs. I had surgery June 14th,2006. I'm 5 weeks out and so far I've lost 24 lbs (I'm one of the slower losers) but I've lost alot in inches. I'm feeling really great, feeling I'm starting to look great and I'm planning on joining a gym! If you have any specific questions - I'll try and answer them, if not I'll try and help the best I can. By the way - it is sooo awesome you live in Alabama, I bet you have a really cool accent lol I live in Montreal,Quebec.

The same to you! I have a few friends that live throughout Canada that have the BEST accents!! My main thing would be my hair. I am sooo attached to it! Did you continue to diet up until your surgery? I've thought about continuing to diet and working out like nutty to see if I can lose a little before I do get it done.

LOL wooohoo, I don't picture Canadians as having accents. But I guess we do! Especially in Quebec and Newfoundland! I didn't diet, I should have - but it never worked for me before and even though I was waiting for surgery, I never believed I'd be able to have it. I guess I got a little depressed about it and gave up, you know? I wish I atleast started working out a bit before. Live and Learn!

Hey, I would definatly look into your insurance unless you plan to pay for it yourself. Some insurance companies require that you do a 3-12 month doctor supervised diet. Meaning you meet a nutritionist and doctor once a month. My insurance company didnt require me to but the hospital that I am going to go through did. I havn't had surgery yet but I have a date August 17th. Losing your hair isnt that bad either, my mom had the surgery 3 1/2 years ago and she did lose alot but nothing visibly noticable and she has it all back now. I'm 17 and 260lbs. I've wanted surgery since I was 12 and I have been in the actual process of getting surgery for a year. If you want you can read all about my "journey" at www.kylieswls.blogspot.com Take care!!!!
