Kelly,
I wouldn't think you would lose a whole lot of weight in your ankles, but it should only make them even better. Good luck.

I've wanted to get a tattoo for years to represent my two children. I have never done it because I was just to big now I think I will get one
to not only represent my boys but also huge changes I've made in my life. I think that you should get a beautiful betterfly just to remind yourself how much you have accomplished not just the weight loss because it is more than that.

Not a silly question at all! I have 3 great tats. They have only improved as I loose weight. The colors are more intense and the designs are tighter. I have a butterfly on my left ?hip?, right above my hip bone, (I can see it now!!), a ladybug in the center of my lower back, and an original drawing, flowers over tribal design on my right thigh. I am nothing but pleased with the way mine look as I reduce!!

I have 5 tat's and waiting till after my WLS to start on a complete back piece and one on each outter calf.
Topic: RE: Perhaps a silly question
I have 4 of them. One about 2 inches above my ankle and three going down my spine from the top of my neck (at the hair line). I've lost over 100lbs so far and they look fine. Now keep in mind, I wanted to get another one just this weekend when I was in North Carolina (found an amazing artist) but since Im not sure where the skin will fall and not sure what kind of scar I will have from plastic surgery Im waiting a little longer.
Topic: Perhaps a silly question
For those of you who have had WLS and lost alot of weight, were your tattoos distorted by the weight loss. I have one of my ankle and I'm afraid it might not look right after the fact, not that it would keep me from doing this.

Kelle... I've heard a lot of people talk about tats on their chests, backs, and calves that have shrunk with the shrinking of their skin, but I've heard a lot of people say that they still look great- just smaller. I have one on my upper calf and I've noticed that it's shrinking, but the colors are getting brighter. I think I'll wait until after I lose my weight and get my extra skin taken off until I get any more- don't want little ink blobs or anything. Good luck!

I know this post was started a while ago, but I wanted to chime in and also ask a question. I have two tats right now, and have plans for more. Both of mine are on my chest, one on the top portion of my right breast/collar bone area of the Green Man and one on the left side same area of the Spiral Goddess. The Green man is done in grey wash and the goddess is done in grey wash on the upper body with the spiralling bottom of the body done in swirling colors.
My question is this, for those who are post op and had tats that were in an area highly affected by weight lose (breasts, etx) how has that affected your tats? Do they look the same just smaller or do they look all out of proportion now?
Thanks!

I have 3 so far: A tribal band on my left arm, a tribal sun on my right arm, and the words "Big Daddy" on my left chest. I also have my right eyebrow
pierced. I'll be heading back for more tats after my surgery, and perhaps another piercing.
