Unfortunately I have heard of some distortion after weight loss. If you scroll down and read some older posts, I think there is some talk about it. I think that it would all depend on where the tats are and how elastic your skin is. I also think that there would be more distortion with plastic surgery than just weight loss in general. I am wanting to get totally covered, but I am waiting on wls and possibly ps before I do. I have a few that will be affected, but I just put it into perspective: I would rather be thin and healthy with some tattoos that are a little distorted and maybe not in the same place as where they were when they started out than fat and unhealthy with perfect tattoos that will not be seen for very long because I will not live a long life

Hey Kim..I don't think you will have any trouble with the pain on top of the foot. That is the only place I have a tat. So I guess I can't compare the pain to other areas. I liked the fact that I could watch them do the whole thing. I am definately going to have my other foot done someday. I did not see that episode of Miami ink , but the tat sounds cool. Good luck finding someone to do it for you.~Shea

Topic: Anyone have trouble healing?
This is a strange question but I've never had anyone to really ask before, figure it's worth a shot here. I have 9 small tattoos total, 3 of which I got before having gastric bypass and the rest after. I also have a few facial and body piercings. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed they are more prone to infection after they had surgery? I never had any problems with tattoos/piercings healing before my operation, but after surgery I lost 2 piercings to infection/rejection, had a severe infection occur on the 3 tattoos on my foot (supposedly staph or strep bacteria but not sure how it got in there to begin with because I went to a shop with a good reputation, and I take very good care of my tattoos...) I've had teeth wind up with infections after dental work a couple of times post-op, and my most recent tattoo on my ankle had issues with swelling and very thick scabbing vs. the smaller scabs I've always had in the past with new tattoos. I was given antibiotics just in case for it, but I'm fairly sure it wasn't infected, but rather I was having some sort of allergic reaction or hypersensitivity, because the tattoo finally healed fine but the flesh around it is still discolored, I think possibly because my blood vessels were damaged by the swelling. Aside from the swelling I had no other symptoms of infection (pus, pain, redness that grew, fever, none of that). My vitamin intake is not perfect, but I have my blood tested often and always meet the minimum requirements of B12 and iron and such. I've always been somewhat sickly (catch colds easily, etc) but I never had problems with wounds healing before. My gastric bypass was in March of 2003 and was open, I had no complications. I also had my gallbladder removed in July of 2005 and recovered from that just fine. I don't know if there's any relationship between the WLS and my new found difficulties with body mods healing... so I figured I'd ask if anyone knows anything from a medical stand point, or if anyone has had similar experiences. Maybe it's just bad luck, maybe it's something else wrong with me... but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks to anyone *****ads and replies!

If you are in Orlando, why not drive to South Beach and have one of the guys from Miami Ink do it? If I lived anywhere close to there, I would so do it! lol Actually, did you know that Chris Garver has a shop here in Cali? In Hollywood. But he is never here, hes always at MI. That is THE ONLY reason I would EVER want to live in Florida, so Chris could do my tat! I LOVE his work. Plus hes hot! I will post a pic on my profile when I have it done. Just learned that I may have to put it off for a little bit as its sposed to be me and my SIL doing it at the same time, and she is now moving and may need a down payment. DRATS! Courtney

OOOHHHHHH MY GOD...............I saw the same thing on miami ink and that is going to be my next tatoo also. I want mine to be some kind of anklet with a butterfly charm on my foot. The problem is finding someone that will do tattoos on the foot and if I will be able to handle the needle on the ankle bone and foot. All the ones that I've seen has been a straight band around the the leg right above the ankle. I want mine like the one on miami ink where it drups around and below the ankle like a loose chain then the charm resting on the foot. Then the other thing is trying to find someone here in orlando that well free hand it. Good luck and post a picture of it when you get it.
