Perhaps a silly question

For those of you who have had WLS and lost alot of weight, were your tattoos distorted by the weight loss. I have one of my ankle and I'm afraid it might not look right after the fact, not that it would keep me from doing this.

I have 4 of them. One about 2 inches above my ankle and three going down my spine from the top of my neck (at the hair line). I've lost over 100lbs so far and they look fine. Now keep in mind, I wanted to get another one just this weekend when I was in North Carolina (found an amazing artist) but since Im not sure where the skin will fall and not sure what kind of scar I will have from plastic surgery Im waiting a little longer.

Not a silly question at all! I have 3 great tats. They have only improved as I loose weight. The colors are more intense and the designs are tighter. I have a butterfly on my left ?hip?, right above my hip bone, (I can see it now!!), a ladybug in the center of my lower back, and an original drawing, flowers over tribal design on my right thigh. I am nothing but pleased with the way mine look as I reduce!!

Kelly, I wouldn't think you would lose a whole lot of weight in your ankles, but it should only make them even better. Good luck. Donna

Like Princess J, I'm waiting to get another after PS. I want another on my back, but I know if i get now AND all the PS that i want, it would be removed with the excess skin. so I must wait. I'm excited to one day be able to show them off!

My mother always said the only silly/Stupid question is the one not asked...I have a tattoo on my ankle, One on my lower back and one on the top of my foot, I have lost 79lbs went from a 22/24 to a 14 and they are not distorting at all, I ws kinda afraid of the same thing but no worries....

I had the same question. I have 7 tats and most are large and I was afraid that they would shrivel up to nothing after my surgery. Thanks everyone *****plied.

Thanks to all that have replied; life has been so very hectic lately I didn't have time to thank you all until today. I have two more tats in addition to the ankle one i mentioned, being celtic knotwork on my lower back and winnie the pooh who sits on my right shoulder blade. I want more still but am hoping I can hold out until after surgery and the weight loss and perhaps even plastic surgery till I give in to the urge for more ink.
