Hi there,

My wife had the gastric bypass on aug 28th of 09 and is doing awesome.  has lost 100 pounds since surgery.  i have always been there for her before and after surgery.  I told her even if she didnt have surgery I would not love her any less.  she got the okay from ohip to have the surgery and had it with dr graber in new york.  we drove from Trenton ontario on august 26.  the surgery went very well.  and we left after a week.    about a month after surgery she started having massive mood swings.  one minute she was happy and joking and the next she was screaming and telling me to leave.  then 5 mins later she was fine like nothing happend.  she was afraid that I was going to leave her.  I told her that I will never leave her and I wont.  is there any husbands or wives here that have delt with that?

hope you can help

Hi, just thought I would comment well I've done that, and still do at times, just be patient with her, it's all the extra hormones that are stored in the fat and while it's leaving it really gives us or I should say some of us really bad mood swings.  So hang in there it does getbetter.

After my surgery I had mood swings like that. I had stopped taking my anti-depressant because I just couldn't get everything in that I needed to take. Vitamins, supplements, etc. When I started taking my anti-depressant again, things got much better for me and my family. Hang in there and support her the best you can. You sound very loving and supportive. Good for you. If this situation doesn't get better, she may want to consider seeing a doctor or a counselor.

My wife had surgery on Aug 31st and as of this morning hit 100 lost mark! If she reads this I Love You Baby!!!! Anyway looking at what you wrote my wife went through a couple of times like that and the best thing is to leave them alone for a  few. I never did that and almost drove her to leave once but it happens to everyone. The good news for me is that she also has *other mood swings from time to time. Cant get her to leave me alone during those! Anywaywe are never going to be the high school sweet hearts we once were but as I tell her all the time that ***** they removed during surgery, thank God she is gone!!! Good luck! If you want to bounce some questions off of her send her a message as well she is on here as tori12456.
