Topic: 3 x a charm

Well I have had my C-PAP for 31 days and have been through 3 masks.  1st one was a nasal pillow felt like I would not breath with it on and nose stop up.  2nd mask was a full face mask and my face broke out from the silicon.  So I called the home care provider and ask about the Sleepweaver cloth mask. I saw it on the internet.  They had to order me one to try.  Well I received it on Friday.  Yoohoo it is great no more red face and I an breath.  If you have trouble with  the other mask you may want to try it.  You can sleep on you side, stomach or back.  Just looking at it  you would not think it would work but it does.  The last 3 night was the best sleep I have had in years.

Thank you Ms Princess! I certainly trust the info from those that have walked before me. I also am afraid not to use it for fear of the same thing, death!  Thanks again, and if you don't mind my saying so, you are a beautiful woman, love  your avatar!

I don't know how canada healthcare works in that respect.  It is durable medical equipment and there are internet companies in the states that fill presriptions on line.  You could check that avenue in canada.

Hi my name is MsPrincess,

I have been using my cpap machine for about 2 years now.  I brought my cpap machine with me to the hospital.  My surgeon told me that he only lost one patient and it was not because of WLS.
It was because the woman went to sleep without her cpap machine and never woke up.

I had the sleeve done on June 18th of this year.  I am going on six weeks postop now and have used my cpap everyday since surgery and had no problems.  Thank you Father GOD!

Mine is a rental for 10 months then I own.

I was also able to but an extra mask that had been a demo and discontinued for only $40.

You need the support of a CPAP provider while you adjust to the right mask,  you could check with them on what they do with rentals that get returned and maybe there would be some kind of break there.

I have heard of people purchasing used machines at garage sales, etc.
It is possible to rent CPAP machines - you'd need your doctor to order a trial or rental of a machine rather than a purchase.

Thanks for the help Diana.  Yes, it is partially covered up here with our medicare system, then my private insurer will pick up 80% of the balance.  It could still be around $350. out of pocket for me.   I was just curious on the cost of a used machine.

Thanks again!!
