do you have any other comorbid problems?  degenerative joint disease (aka  arthritis) in your knees or feet?  Edema in your lower legs or ankles?  Those are the only other obvious things I can think of.  Either way, I would definitely appeal.  I work for an insurance company.  Mine is pretty good and reasonable, but there are some out there that just deny right off and wait to see if it's important enough for you to appeal.

Topic: Surgery denied
Any ideas? My insurance denied my surgery because I am responding to treatment for my sleep apnea with C pap.

hi there...as much as I hate mine...(I just got it too!!!) My surgeon says I have to have at least 160 hours logged before surgery (damn machine has a smart card that they can read) I know that it is important for my health and safety for surgery.  They will probably want you to be on it....good luck!!!!!!

Topic: RE: dreading getting a cpap machine
hi all,
Haven't done well like I should, but I am going to try and just sit in the recliner with it on, even if I have to sleep there...The good news is I just got my surgery date from Barix....October 29th, this should give me enough time to get those hours logged in before surgery.  Barix requires at least 160hrs before PATS. (preadmission tests)
Wish me luck...I hate that damn machine!!!
Thanks to eveyone for your support and ideas!
Hugs,
Betty

There are very educated users that are willing to answer any questions.  I couldn't do CPAP therapy without it!

Topic: RE: Sleep Study
Were did you have your sleep study done?   I went to Kempton and Nelson in Gilbert. The Tech would not tell me anything.  After the  Doctor  at Kempton and Nelson went over the overall results they called me and set up another sleep study. On the second one I had to sleep with the mask.  Then if  you have sleep apnea they set up an appointment to get your machine.   Good Luck,

Wendy

That is the first I have heard of not using the cpap after lapband. It does make sense, but my doctor told me to use it.  How long did you have it before surgery? I am on a couple of years now and really looking forward to having it GONE and out of my life. I don't go back for another sleep study for at least 3 more months.
