Can you give me an internet link on how to do this.  Mine is way too strong for me now.  Thanks!

Wow, you are living my dream -- one of the reasons I had surgery.  My cpap setting is already way too high for me; it feels like a tornado blowing through my head, LOL.  It won't be long now, and then no more stops at airport security, no more trying to find an extra outlet in hotels that only have two which are crammed with their bedside light and alarm clock, and no more lugging that thing around, and no more whistling and blowing noises and masks falling off in the night.  WOW, CONGRATULATIONS on achieving your freedom!!!

Topic: Sleep Study
I'm trying to get my insurance (Western Health Advantage) to approve me for a Lap-Band. Because my BMI is 37.2, I must have at least one serious co-morbidity.
Years ago I was also diagnosed with sleep apnea, but I don't even recall if I was ever offered a CPAP.
(I went at least 5 years without seeing a doctor and I don't even recall who my doctor was! So I am unable to get my old records.)
Anyway... I am having another sleep study done on February 8th and I'm worried that my Sleep Apnea won't be "serious" enough for my insurance to approve me.
Does anyone have any tips on how to make my sleep apnea appear worse during my sleep study?
I'm considering taking some muscle relaxants in the hopes that it could help my case.
It's very frustrating when your doctors all tell you that you should really get WLS, but your insurance then says you don't need it.

Topic: RE: apnea without snoring??
 Hi,

I am new to this site and saw this post and felt like it was me.  I don't think I snore (although my husband says once in awhile if I'm on my back I will, but I usually sleep on my side), but my doctor sent me for a sleep study because I had an episode of atrial fib.  I had my study last night and as far as I know everything is OK.  Won't have results for a week or so.  I do wake up at night sometimes, but I haven't ever noticed I was SOB or anything - occ. I have felt like my sinuses were "plugged-up".

Anyway, not wanting to have sleep apnea, but it will help me get approved for WLS.  I just appreciate knowing more about the disease.  I am really anxious for the result!

Thank you!

Some surgeons require that CPAP users bring their machine to the hospital with them or else they wont operate on them.   Good luck!

I think I have lost enough weight to have made a difference.  I will ask my doctor next time I see him if he will order me  another test then the sleep apnea people will check on the insurance to see if it will pay.  I would so much like to be better.   Last night I woke up several times to go to bathroom, didn't use CPAP.  Most of the time I just can't get to sleep with it on.  I think pressure is too high.  I will talk to doc soon.

I had to have 2 tests done before the surgery. They were paid for. I have already had one done and that is when they took me off the machine and now in March need to have another one because I now need an appliance because I still have obstruction it is not caused by the weight. My insurance company will be paying for that one too. I called the insurance company. I would call yours just in case. It should be enough that you have lost weight. Praying this helps.

God Bless you

I had my sleep tests covered after I had lost a significant amout of weight.  10% of my current weight was considered significant. Hope this helps.

I've lost 48 lbs and I started off with pressure set at 10.  Didn't know i had sleep apnea until I started the process for lap band about 1 year ago.  I wonder if insurance will pay for another study at this point.  I really think I don't have it SA anymore, but just don't know.  It could be that I need my pressure  reduced.  How else can you know what the pressure should be unless you have another study done?   But the big question, will insurance pay again?????
