Hi Donna,
My name is Edmund.
I am contacting you about the CPAP, and if it is still avaiable?
My cpap stopped working and my current insurance doesn't cover
repairs or replacement.

Thanks

Topic: RE: Mild to moderate SA treatments?
Well, the pulmonologist said he didn't even know why the sleep center referred me other than the fact that it was for bariatric surgery.  He said that I have very mild apnea and if I weren't having surgery, he would recommend different sleep positions and a sinus spray.

Topic: RE: I DON'T WANT A CPAP MACHINE!!!!
I am getting ready to schedule a surgery and I have been using a CPAP for over 3 years.  I want you to understand something about the CPAP before you decide NOT to use it.  First of all, when a person is diagnosed with SA its because you stop breathing during the night.  I would wake up at all hours of the night completely out of air and start coughing....I decided I had to use the machine. Make sure you only put it on when you are ready to fall to sleep.  It can be a little weird at first but you know what...when you actually get a full nights rest and wake up refreshed, there is no better way to start the day.

I was told once I have the surgery and lose some weight (currently at 275) then I can be retested for SA.

I hope this helps. Please don't shy away from it because it looks weird or might first start off as uncomfortable.

i think if you call the company from where u got ur cpap machine they should be able to change the settings in yours?

mine said my setting was at 9.0  and it to has the ramp and the little humidifier thing.. im only a week into using mine but the store that i got my cpap from were awesome there is like a 3 year warranty incase anything happens etc.. but i would think they could change the pressure setting if its too much for u..  you shouldnt need to get a whole new machine

A few  years ago after my sleep study, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I did try the CPAP machine but I hated it immensely... so I decided to send it back and tough it out.

I had my surgery in the end of 08 and my sleep has gotten much better! I personally don't regret not using the CPAP machine....however, I do have a hard time staying asleep so I use a prescribed sleep aid.

Topic: RE: Sleep Apnea... Pouch Blow Up?????
I posted this on the main board also and they are thinking I'm crazy... but I found this on google.

Okay... I felt the same way you do... I really did think this Doctor is freaking crazy, and so did my husband. But... I just found this also when I googled "cpap pressure to much air in pouch"
go here and check this out...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov1PmtXvXFg

So I'm not crazy.... others are wondering the same thing... This makes me feel better, I will go to my neurologist and see if what I can do to tested regularly... It's very hard to sleep without my cpap when I've had it for so long... it becomes part of you.

Thanks guys

I'm glad you posted this as I've been wondering when do you know you can stop?  I'm only set on 7 but it should probably be higher as I've gained over the past 5 years of using it.  I'll be so glad to get rid of that appendage...

Topic: Sleep Apnea... Pouch Blow Up?????
I'm one month out and my Surgeon told me that if I remain on my sleep apnea machine the pressure could blow up my pouch. I freaked out naturally and immediately stopped using my machine. which is very concerning to me... I'm afraid I will die in my sleep, if I don't use it. I'm afraid I'll blow up my pouch if I do. My doctor told me it is a controversial subject.... but, was fine with me going off my machine... I was set on a 12. I'm freaked out and don't know what to think.

I think I will re-post this and see what others think... I'm concerned
