That's a good idea to make one ~ I noticed at the place where I got mine that you can buy them, I'm sure they are expensive so maybe I'll just make one myself.

Thanks!

My brother is an ENT and he has a business that sells C Pap machines.  He told me I could make a sleeve for the hose that will help stop the condensation.  I don't have problems with condensation but I have heard from others that have that wrapping the hose helps.

Yep I think I'm finally getting used to it I had an episode the other night that had me wanting to throw the thing up against the wall...condensation was coming up in the hose and I couldn't figure out how to make it stop but I eventually did, I've been wearing it all night now.

I sometimes feel like my machine is smoothering me. It doesn't usually last long, just as long as it takes for me to get used to it. When I first started using it, I could only go about an hour. I gradually built myself up to a whole night. Stick with it!!

Topic: RE: I DON'T WANT A CPAP MACHINE!!!!
before I got my cpap machine I was worried about the same things you are.

To be completely honest, I have no idea how I slept without it.

The truth is, I didnt. I was waking up every 3-4 min gasping for air. i was not concious of it, but the study proved it.

on average i was getting 1-2 hours of sleep total out of 8 -10 hours.

the first weeks will suck, I wont try to tell you they wont. its an adjustment that is so worth making.
you will have much more energy. if you lose fast, you wont need it for long.

if the insurance will cover it I would say do it.

 my pressure is 14.4

I have not had any issues but I am also vsg. My doc did not say anything about it at all.
Things vary from doctor to doctor, you may want to contact the sleep specialist and see what they have to say.

good luck, keep us updated.

Congrats! I hated my CPAP machine soooo much! My level was set on 7 and I begged the company to turn it down for me but they wouldn't until I had the doc's permission. I could never sleep with it through the night.

You have an old post but heres my answer that may help for a dry mouth.

Do NOT use alcohol based mouthwashes. Use SMARTRINSE. Dr said.

ORAGEL makes a dry mouth gel you can try for your mouth. Maybe that will help. It is glygerin based with a little flavor.

Hope you solved it by now.

I have SA so today I was given a prescription for my CPAP and was shown how to use it, clean it and all that good stuff, well about an hour ago I decided to head to bed, get the machine ready only to discover the humidifier knob is broken, so I figure I'll just use it tonight without that and take it back in tomorrow morning, well it's making me all panicky and I feel like I can't breathe well and when I yawn it feels like my breath is being taken away or when I cough (which is a lot since I have a chest cold!) So I had to get up and take it off for a bit ~ I really don't know how Im going to do this and I have to wear it for 30 days before I can be cleared for surgery. Ugh!

Ok rantin' and ravin' over. LOL

What is a 6 month Cpap check? I have had sleep tests after losing weight, but not on a specific cycle. Please enlighten me. Thanks.
