For the CPAP machine and related stuff, you should be able to find better prices online.  Do a google search on "CPAP" and you should find places to purchase machines.

Are you worried that your sleep doctor will not give you clearance for weight loss surgery?

I was just posting this because I've had more people than I thought, write me and let me know how much their sorry and how they are praying. My momma is one of the nicest people out there, I wish that we can individually meet each and every person on this website that are planning on going to Dr. Almanza. I wish I could take you guys through a normal day in my life now that everything has messed up in my life. Going through my last summer as a high school student. I can't have fun... I won't have fun. I want justice to be served!!! I want to save someone's life. Please this is NO JOKE!! I wake up everyday and I think and pray about anybody who's in or going into surgery with Dr. Almanza... I pray for you guys. I don't even know you guys. My mom has been in ICU on a ventilator for 7 days now... my best friend... I can't go see her whenever I want to anymore... visiting hours are precise. My mom won't be able to see the 17th Anniversary of me arriving in this world, because she's too busy going through something that shouldn't have ever happened!!! DOCTORS MAKE MISTAKES... BUT WHAT KIND OF DOCTOR MAKES MISTAKES OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.. Yes, you might have had a WONDERFUL experience... but listen to the stories people.. just because you were lucky DOES NOT mean that everybody else was. There are many people around the United States and Canada that are dealing with their friends and/or family members DYING with deadly infections, holes in stomachs, esophagus, etc. You guys keep telling your friends to go.... and eventually, you are going to go through what me and my family and plenty other families are going through right now. I'm not trying to harsh Dr. Almanza's "mellow".... I am truly, honestly, and dedicative to preventing as many people from going to this doctor as possible. Please spend the extra money and getting done by someone who is, not only cheap and kind, but dedicated to helping you. Not a doctor who is just going to WHAM BAM over and never see you post-op (to many people). Please PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..... I am not doing this to get back at Dr. Almanza or anybody that is working over there just because they've done this to my momma. I am doing this to prevent YOU from ever going through something like this. It IS NOT FUN.
Love always and forever,
Miranda

Topic: Will Sleep apnea hold up surgery?
I have just been diagnosed with moderate sleep apena, I am having roux en y shortly the doctor doing my surgery wanted me to follow up with the sleep study and now that i have been diagnosed I'm worried it might hold up my surgery. The sleep doctor told me there's a good chance that my surgery and weight loss will stop my sleep apena, but wants me to buy a machine I just can't see spending that money when I'm going to lose weight.  Does anyone know if I don't get the machine will they still do the surgery?

I am going to be having roux en y surgery and I just got my results from the sleep lab the doctor says I have moderate sleep apnea , I am concerned this might hold up my surgery, I think it's a big crock cause the sleep doctor wants me spend all this money to get help and in the next breath he says I could be cured of it when I lose weight, so should I spend the money on the machine or wait untill after I lose the weight to see if I no longer have sleep apnea. I just don't want it to hold up my procedure.

I used the same mask as a trial and was having the same issues with this mask. I found keeping a fan on myself at low-med. speed really helps with the sweating.

I have had this also.  It turns out that I was seriously dehydrated, though I don't know if that's what is going on with you.  If you pinch the skin on the back of your hand does it return quickly or slowly?  Maybe try upping your fluids for a few days and see if the dry mouth goes away.   At first I only had it at night, but eventually it spread to all hours and I couldn't even talk without my lips sticking to my teeth!!

only had mine a lil over a month and I am on my 3rd mask- this one the zest- small over the nose one seems best-
I sleep thru the nite most nites now- tossing and turning a lil,it leaves a red mark on the bridge of my nose but no leaks.  Only one small component to clean each morn

But in answer to your question- make sure you continue to try masks til the right one is found.  I took an excedrin pm until I got more used to it as I started with nasal pillow first and once it ramped up it was like a blow dryer was turned on under my nose - and I woke up and tensed up all nite-I never wanted a mask over my nose-but it turns out that is the one I ended up liking best- who knew??

Thanks Terry,

I am meeting with my Surgeon for my 3 month follow up in a couple fo weeks and I will visit with her about that.  I probably am mouth breathing, which I did not do before.  It is not that I don't want to use my C-Pap (God I am addicted to it), but am concerned about the change.  I do use a humidifier but that does not impact the dryness which leads me to believe that it is that I am mouth breathing.

Thanks for taking the time to post, I appreciate it.

Steve

have you had another sleep study since losing the weight?  Are you mouth breathing by chance- you may be sleeping in different position since losing the weight- its easier to move around now?  Just a thought- but getting another sleep study would maybe even have you off your cpap for life as you may not need it anymore!!
