HI,
i was just diagnosed with sleep apnea and found out that i stop breathing 37 times per hour. my Dr ordered a CPAP machine but the waiting time is too long about 5/6 weeks. If you still have the machine can you give it me please. or let me know if you don't have it any more.

I have has a cpap machine w/ humidifier for over ten years, I use a gel mask. I get a new mask every 6 months. It usually takes me 2 to 3 weeks to get it adjusted so I am not beating up my nose, or blowing air into my eyes. I slept through the night on my first night. I woke to my wife and two kids wondering if I was still alive. I wasn't snoring. and I didn't move all night long. My pressure is kinda high 17hg. With that high of pressure, I have to use a strap to keep my mouth shut. That's I we keep from getting the dry mouth. I spoke with my surgeon the other night. I asked him if it is possible to get off the machine after surgery. He told me that there is a real good chance. Now I am scared that I won't be able to sleep with out it. I will cross that bridge when I get there. Good luck with your machine. I hope I helped some.

Have your Dr. get you a heated humidifier. It makes it so much better. I have had a cpap machine for almost 10 years. I have always had a humidifier. Check it out.

Any tips on getting used to the CPAP - I wake up with dry bloody noses and my throat hurts. It ramps up, but I hate it. I know I need to use it though.
Topic: RE: really hate my CPAP
I just had my sleep apnea test last week, and after reading some of these posts, I'm afraid that I might have to use that awful machine. The tech put the mask on me after I had been asleep for a few hours and I hated it!! Another thing that I read (dont know if it's true) is that your sleep apnea doctor has to give his approval for you to have the surgery, and that sux for both of us if it's true.
Topic: Does anyone need a CPAP machine?
I have a CPAP machine that I no longer need. Honestly is was used very little, maybe 4 or 5 months. I have 2 masks - one that covers the nose and it a big triangle and one that is just the nasal pillows. I know these things aren't cheap and mine is sitting in its bag as I would take it to the hospital with each surgery, but never used it! (My sleep apnea was better, but I had TPN through the night and couldn't do another sleep study until recently!)
Topic: RE: A new kind of CPAP mask
Hi all, I've contacted the company manufacturing the mask. I have been told that they have just recieved code which enables them to begin the proccess of allowing them to sell directly to Canada and home healthcare providers. They are predicting Canadian mask sales to be available August 1/10. Cross your fingers it's sooner
Topic: really hate my CPAP
I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea almost a year ago. I have been through 3 different masks. I can keep it on IF I take a sleep aid, because I get drowsy. However, I usually end up freaking out at some point and ripping it off my face. I weaned myself off the sleep aid months ago, because my doctor told me if I didn't use the machine, he would stop prescribing me the meds. That is how much I hate that machine. I so hoped it would be a miracle and help me rest better at night, but I simply can't get used to it.
I have not even talked to my doctor about having WLS yet. I have an appointment this week though. I read a couple of older posts that said if we have SA we need to be using the machine. I want the surgery so bad, but I just don't know if I can use it. I am constantly exhausted. I have 3 young children, one which is only 7 months old and the exhaustion is killing me.
Not sure what I was hoping to accomplish by making this post. Just needed to vent I guess.
