Topic: RE: How Do I sell my Brand New cpap machine?
Used CPAPs are not easy to sale. It would definitely not be worth that amount. The Elite Escape is the one that only logs usage data and does not provide treatment data such as AHI, Leaks, Flow rate, etc. It sales for around $700 with the humidifier. Many DME's try to push this one, since they get paid a standard rate from most insurance companies, and it is $200 cheaper than the Elite (non-escape).

One can purchase the higher model (non-escape) buddle with Humidifier and Climate control Line for about $850 brand new here:
http://1800cpap.com/resmed-s9-elite-cpap-machine-h5i-humidif ier-climate-line.aspx

Of concern though, is when you say you don't need it anymore. Have you done a follow-up sleep study? I too was diagnosed as part of the bariatric process. My AHI was 28, and with the machine it is now less than one. You would not be able to see this with the Escape model though. Like all things, I finally had to accept that I had sleep apnea and that the machine really is doing its job, and it is very necessary. Sleep Apnea is a co-morbidity after all. It took about 3 different masks to find the one that let me sleep a full night on the machine, and if you find that right combination, it will make a world of difference.

Good Luck.

Okay, so since I had surgery I don't need my machine. I've priced it out, it's worth about $2500.00 with everything included. I literally used it for 2 months and then not very much. I only got it so the surgeon would be happy that I was compliant with my supposed sleep apnea diagnosis but I don't need it any longer and haven't used it since the day before my surgery. It's brand new, top of the line. It's ResMed S9 AutoSet Elite Escape Auto Escape H5i with heated humidifier and a little device to report to your doctor. How the heck do I sell this? Does anyone need one? I could use the money - but I"m sure I couldn't get what I paid for it. If I could get $1,500.00 I'd be very happy.
Here's a link to the machine I have:  http://www.thecpappeople.com/products/resmed-s9-vpap-auto-h5 i-heated-humidifier__36016.aspx

Topic: RE: sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension any hope???
Sutterbos....I have never heard of the "prongs" for CPap or BiPap. Do you mean the type that you use with oxygen? I have tried the little nasal pillows that fit into your nostrils but those really bothered my claustrophobia; plus you had to try to keep your mouth closed with those and it made my ears pop. I would love it if it was as easy as just the oxygen type nasal cannuals. I was always told you had to have a mask that sealed in order for it to work. Where did you get the "prongs"? Thanks for your information.

I don't have pulmonary hypertension, but did struggle with the mask Cpap.  I finally went with prongs - much easier to sleep and not claustaphobic.

And within a month after surgery, I didn't need Cpap at all anymore - sleeping through the night!

Topic: sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension any hope???
I was diagnoised with sleep apnea and at the same time saw the pulmonologist who then diagnoised pulmonary hypertension. I have the shortness of  breath and edema but was under the impression that a lot of this was due to my obesity. This was 2+ years ago. Since then I have struggled with the CPAP. I have tried every mask and no success. I am EXTREMELY claustrophobic and have finally fallen asleep a few times with it on from sheer exhaustion only to wake up having pulled off the mask(even when I taped it to my face). I then tried the BIPAP and full face mask that was suppossedly supposed to help with the claustrophobia. EVEN WORSE. Through it all I have actively tried to increase my diaphram breathing and used my oxygen religiously. Now I over hear two people in the doctors back area talking about Pulmonary hypertension and the life expectency rarely being over 3 years. I am devestated. I have looked online and find a varying array of Short life spans. I am in the last steps of approval for GSV; thinking it would hopefully help my sleep apnea, need for 24 hour oxygen as well as other things. I have always felt I had a good relationship with my PCP and Pulmonologist ....now I wonder if I was wrong. Is all of the work with GSV worth it if I may be staring at a death sentence? Yes I do have a call in to my docs..but..... Sorry to rant I am really worried I have a big family and need to know so I can prepare myself and them(if that is possible).Anyone out there with Pulmonary Hypertension???Good or Bad I have found OH forums to have the most knowledgable people. So HElp.

Topic: Announcing Forum Upgrades!

Its been over six years since we've launched our forums. During this time it has seen thousands of fresh faces, greetings, meetings, partings, arguments, kind words, life transformations, cathartic rants, and simply happy time pass. It has been with us throughout this time, silently observing and facilitating. But like any wise old man, its bones were getting old. Its joints were aching, and it has been needing a new jolt of energy.

A Mobile World
Did you know that over 30% of you visit our website using a mobile device? For those who do visit us via mobile, we owe you a sincere apology, because our forums have been horrendous on a mobile browser. But the big news is that things are about to change! Our new forums are completely mobile friendly and compatible with iPhone, Android, and pretty much any other modern smart phone.

Each post, topic, and forum shows up beautifully, with the full set of features, and in nice large font. See the screenshots for yourself.

You dont have do anything different, just browse to the forums like you normally would. This means that you can finally put these away:

Not Just for Mobile
The interface on your desktop browser has also been cleaned up a great deal. There is now less clutter on the page, and the overall experience is a lot cleaner. Check out some more screenshots here!

You will notice that each post no longer has 400 buttons below it. Only the buttons that are relevant to each post show up, making your screen space a lot less cluttered. Also, when you reply to another person's post, the entire post is indented inside, making it a lot easier to figure out who has replied to whom.

Launching soon! Maybe as early as next week! Maybe.
And do remember that this is not in any way a be-all-end-all when it comes to the forums. We are in the process of constantly learning and improving upon what we have, and this is just one step along the way.

Stay tuned for the changes! We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

Yeah I hear you.  I woke the next morning with a panic attack after being tested with the full mask.  It was the worst panic attack I ever had!  I just got my Cpap last night.  I got the nasal pillows a little better than the mask but I'm not sure my size.  Small seems to small and medium to big.  Medium is definitely more comfortble but I'm not sure about leaks if it's a little too big.
