Lisa - I haven't had any head ache or light headedness with my cpap. I'm sorry that you're having these issues. I would certainly go back to the doctor and get to the bottem of it. Good luck!

Topic: Thanks and one more quesiton
Thanks everyone for your replys to my post. I am beginning to feel "normal" now. I guess it's just gonna take some time to get used to it. I'm glad that at least this is norm and not me over reacting to this machine. Now - for my real problem. PLEASE don't flame me here. I have a hurting heart over this as it is. My husband works third shift. He currently gets up at midnight and goes to work. He is EXTREMELY upset of my cpap machine. (jealous might be the more operative word here) Now I'm begging, don't flame me OK?! He has refused to help me when I can't get the thing on right. (I'm getting better at this on my own) He makes rude comments about it to me all the time. Stuff like, "you're hooked up to THAT again" (yes, he does put emphasis on THAT). Now he even pulls on the tubbing when I'm asleep, which of course losens it from my nose and throws me into a panic attack which takes me about 1/2 hour to recover and get back to sleep. I've been VERY hurt over this. And any attempt to discuss it has gone unanswered on his part. He has made the comment though that I've slept all this time with out it so why start with a machine now. He's also said "Someone really found a slight problem and is now making tons of money off of this whole sleep apnea thing." I've told him that I haven't sleep good for a couple of years. That this is probably why the entire time and I'm glad that a reason has been found. I hope to get rested and regain my lost energy!!! But he just says, "you didn't die before, there's no need for a machine now" OK - Now I $%^&* off!!!!!!!!!!! This is the man who is "supposed" to love me and want what's best for me. OMG**** brings me to tears just to think that he actually said that to me. So, I haven't worn the cpap in over a week now. He's gone back to the nice hubbie he was before - just like nothing happened. He's not made any comments to me and the cpap just sits on my nightstand. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel that this is a serious medical condition. If it weren't I'm sure my insurance wouldn't have covered the cost of it. I wanted to give it a chance, to get used to it, and to see if I could make it past noon without being so tired that i'm good for nothing. But I can't keep fighting him on this.... I really just don't have the strength or energy. ANY HELP OR ADVICE OR JUST WHATEVER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Topic: Important--Please Help!!
Has anyone had any problems with being light headed or having headaches after starting CPAP? I started 2 weeks ago and the very next day and ever since then I have felt that way--kinda drunk feeling. I am starting to get worried. I even went to the Med Help place and they checked me out and he said I am not pregnant, I don't have an infection, my blood sugar is ok and i am not diabetic, and that he couldn't find anything wrong. If it doesn't stop soon I am going to another doctor but I just wondered if anyone knew why I might be feeling this way. I get nauseated sometimes too and I am about 3 weeks late for my period.

I use the nasal pillows and love them! I can sleep, toss and turn anyway I want and never have a problem. PS - My humidifier needs to be filled every day too. Good luck Ed

Topic: RE: When do you feel better?
Donna, I went to my doctor Friday because I couldn't stand it anymore. I have been on this machine for 6 weeks and still feel tired. He told me a couple of things. #1 he said they really can't tell what your pressure should be set at by one sleep study. He said ideally, patients should spend three consecutive nights in a sleep lab so they can watch you over three nights. He said it's too hard finding an insurance company that will pay for that. By only watching you for one night, they only get one snapshot of how you sleep. He said it can change from night to night. He also said some people and they don't know why, just never feel more rested even though their CPAP is working and their apnea stops. He said there is a drug they can prescribe (can't remember the name) that will help you feel more rested and less sleepy during the day. He said the drug works and will make you feel better. Before putting me on this drug, he is going to give me a new machine. This machine will auto-adjust to the correct pressure throughout the night and keep a history of the pressure it used on me so he can review it after three weeks. He thinks I may need a higher pressure and this machine will tell them that. You should go back and talk to your doctor. There are still things you can do to feel better. I'm not giving up! Ed

Topic: RE: CPAP & Fluid Retention
i notice my face is bloated especially in the morning. It makes since I think since I have in haled at least 1/2 of the water in my humidifier over nite. As far as upping the airflow- u just got used the the pressure. That is a good thing- does not mean u need to increase. When I got my mask I could barely breathe with it on . Now I dont even feel the pressure coming in. Shows that u can get used to anything. We are lucky

Hi, I have a suggestion -- try cpappro. Here's the website for more information: http://www.cpappro.com/ It's a dental interface-- you fit a mouthpiece to your upper jaw, and it holds two small cushions that rest against your nostrils. That's the only thing that touches your face! By the way, I have one that I'm willing to sell for $75. Now that I'm post surgery and looking forward to getting off my c-pap, I don't anticipate that I will use it. Good luck, Susan

Topic: RE: CPAP .... Not staying on after Gastric Bypass Surgery! Maybe I don't Need IT??
Hi! I've been on c-pap for 6.5 years. My surgery was 11/2, and currently I'm down 75 pounds. Four years ago when I lost 40# (gained it all back, of course) it wasn't enough to get me off the c-pap. A couple of weeks ago I decided to not use the c-pap, and see what happened. I did not have good sleep, so I've decided that I need to wait until I've lost more weight. I had an appointment scheduled with my sleep doc for next week, but given my "trial test" I rescheduled it to May. By then perhaps I'll be down enough that I can truly give up the c-pap. Good luck to you, Susan

your're right, it won't go away on it's own. Did you ever go back to the sleep clinic for the follow up to determine pressure etc? My insurance paid 100% for all of my testing, supplies and such. Your doctor has to write a prescription for the machine and supplies which in turn has to be forwarded to which ever agency you or your doctors chooses. go for it.

Topic: RE: When do you feel better?
I have had mine for an year and a half, just had a humidifier added last week. I know that the machine improves my breathing while I sleep, but I don't wake up feeling any better, I don't have more energy during the day and I still fall asleep during the day at the worst possible moments.
