Topic: RE: Do I have to get the machine?
Sharon, I too fought the diagnosis and the machine. However, after surgery the machine was definitely needed in the recovery room. I'm now 3 mos out and finding that I will probably be off the machine in a few months. It needs to have the pressure turned down now. After I got used to the machine I definitely slept better.
Topic: CPAP adjustments
Does anyone no how to adjust the cpap settings? My machine is almost paid for and I will probably be through with it in a few months. My husband also has sleep apnea. His machine is much older than mine with no humidifier. I'd like to give him mine without us having to go through the clinic and another sleep study. Suggestions??
Topic: Spare Machine
I have a spare CPAP that I cannot use and was wondering what to do with the machine. Its over 8 years old but still runs. I was switched to Bipap after a year with CPAP. The DME did not want CPAP back....Is there a place I can take it to so it is recycled?
Topic: RE: Anyone use Oracle Mask?
Ed,
I used it in a study...I didn't care for it. I had similar problems can't keep chin strap on and well my pressures at the time were 25/14 and well I think being that high made the Oracle uncomfortable for me. Give it a try and perhaps it will work for you. I am still seeking the ultimate comfortable mask and its been over 8 years! I was hoping after surgery the bipap would be gone from my life....I just had a study done 10 mos after surgery and well the pressure settings are lower but I still need machine....Maybe next year it will go away?

try decreasing the amount of humidity if your machine has a dial. Also keep tubing off the floor which is colder and causes water formation
Topic: RE: Do I have to get the machine?
I had similar feelings at first but I felt so much better after getting the machine I couldn't believe it. Certainly, having the diagnosis of sleep apnea doesn't hurt when trying to lobby for insurance coverage. If your case is like that of many of us, surgery doesn't happen overnight. Better to get the machine and feel better than trying to wait for the surgery and subsequent weight loss to resolve the sleep apnea. Besides, your surgeon may question your readiness for weight loss surgery if you are hesitant to do things that benefit your health. Get the machine - you'll feel better for it!

Topic: RE: bi-pap troubles
I have a C-pap machine but I'm assuming they are similar in their design. There should be a dial to control the amount of moisture the humidifier delivers. Turn the setting down a notch or two if you are getting condensation in the tubing. Good luck.

Topic: bi-pap troubles
Hello...
I have been using the bi-pap for a couple of weeks now. I t was rought at first because I didnt realize I had to press the heat button again after starting the machine or else I would wake up with a frozen nose a couple hours later. Anyway, Now that I have mastered the heat, I am having a huge problem with the tube filling up with water. I guess the condensation builds up, but I wake up around 3 or 4 am with water gushing out of the nasal pillows and my nose full of water. It has gotten to be a major problem. Any suggestions or ideas?

I wish all of you the very best! I am still going through pre-op testing so I don't have a date yet. I am praying that everything works out and I am approved!
Have a wonderful night!
