Topic: RE: Need to have sleep apnea for ins. coverage!
Karla, I don't think you can do much to influence the outcome, but if you do have sleep apnea, you should probably know about it. Sleep apnea is not just bad for sleeping, but for your whole body. I "flunked"my test and now sleep better with the help of a mask and pumped air. My doctor says it will make the surgery safer for me, too. If you are phobic, let the sleep study center know ahead of time, so they can plan strategies with you that will help. Good luck! Margo

Topic: Need to have sleep apnea for ins. coverage!
I need to have sleep apnea for my ins. to cover my WLS. Is there anything I can do during testing to make sure I pass the test. I have been avoiding the test because I am phobic of all of the wires. Thanks, Karla

Topic: Apnea connected with Glaucoma
I just wanted to let everyone know that there is apparently a link between Sleep Apnea and Glaucoma .....There are no symptoms of Glaucoma, but the result is a loss of vision. PLEASE! PLEASE! Think about having a Glaucoma screening if you have Sleep Apnea.....it could save your eyesight.

Topic: Problems with sinuses
I have not been using my mask because I have allot of sinuse drainage. It is not always infection. The cp seems to blow the drainage into the lung area. This scares me. I don't want to keep brohchitis and nothing will clear up my sinus/allergy problem. I really need to be compliant. I've been having allot of trouble. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? Could this just be a mental thing?

Topic: RE: Dry Mouth?
Well this morning I woke up with it all stuck together again. I am going to try Chunky's advice and go down to 15. Paula

Paula- You still might want to go down to a 15 and see if that stops the dry mouth problem altogether. I hate having such dry mouth in the morning. Glad that the instructions for changing the pressure worked with at bit of tweaking! -Chunky Dunker

I had some problems. With your directions I was only in the 'ramp setting program'. After going through the procedure 3x I tried this: Unplug the unit from the rear. Hold down the pressure on/off and ramp buttons at the same time, insert the plug. Once the machine starts, let go. Now I was in the 'ramp setting program'. Next I pressed the on/off button and now I was in the 'pressure setting program'. But, I did change my pressure from 18 to 16 and did not have cavitation of my mouth with EVERYTHING inside it stuck together. That's all, except that YOU'RE MY HERO!!! Paula

I have found all these postings to be a great help. I, too, have been waking up with my whole mouth sucked in and stuck . . . lips to gums, tongue to roof of mouth etc. I am going to turn mine down and see what happens. I am only 5 weeks out but it's really annoying. I had kept Altoids Sours on my night stand and would force one into my mouth. But, sometimes it would make me more alert. I have been on c-pap for about 20 years now and am so ready to toss it out. Paula
