Topic: RE: Does anyone take the mask off in their sleep?
I did for the first week (this was pre-op) but I stopped by taking a melatonin sublingual to knock me out.
Now I have a similar problem (post op 1week) but for a different reason. The mask seems to force too much air into me, which is making my poor itty bitty stomach REALLY hurt!! The most I can keep it on is 2 hours! Anyone else have this issue?

Hi Kathy,
I also like the nasal mask. I can't really tolerate anything else. I find if I use some Mentholatum in my nostrils it really helps keep my sinuses from drying out. The technician told me not to do that because it's not good for the rubber in the nasal pillows, but I finally decided I'll just get some new ones if I need them. At least I don't wake up with a sinus headache when I use it!

Topic: RE: Has anybody QUIT cpap yet?
I was diagnosed after losing 165 pounds. I quit the CPAP because it kept waking me up at night. I was sent to an Orthodontist for a dental device. It was working out good but started to aggravate my TMJ. It never ends.

I have the same problem. I wake up and it is off my face. One night my husband woke me up because the air wa****ting him. I have 5 different masks. The nasal mask seems to be the best. I keep it on. It dries out the sinuses though. I even take Ambein before bed and still take it off. I have switched to a dental device which is not as good as the CPAP. Have trouble with that too. Good luck.
Topic: RE: ever need pressure setting raised??
Do you have a sleep doc? Talk to him/her about it. When I went in for my sleep study review, he increased mine to start at 11 and it automatically raises as needed. I honestly don't pay attention any longer to my number.
Topic: RE: Mouth Breathing
I occasionally have that problem also. Contact the company you got it from see if they don't have some suggestions for you. I usually wake up in middle night, and take it off, but I'm post op too. There are nights like that I get frustrated, but I tell you what, I feel so much better when I sleep with it on. Do you sleep on your back or side? I find that havign to sleep on my back makes it worse.

I have done the same thing and I've been told that it's because I'm a mouth breather (that seems to be the reason they use for all my problems). So, I now have a full face mask I've been trying for the last 2 days. It's tough getting used to and I get dry with it too. I can hardly wait until I've lost enough weight to get rid of this problem. I'm afraid I'm not much help to you. You probably should talk to your CPAP company.
