Sleep apnea is called a co-morbid be cause it can kill you, it is commonly caused by obeseity, but not always, I had sleep apnea before i became obese as a result of by gerd, also not related to obesity, babies are some times born with it and die from it, sids, if you have sleep apnea you have to be tested every two years and stay on therapy to keep your drivers license in delaware, and everywhere for a CDL. NO YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE SLEEP APNEA.

this is a bit late, but maybe you need a new mask. It sounds like the mask is too big now. It also probably has to be lowered, but I'd see about a new mask, as well.

If you qualify with the BMI you don't need it. It helped me win my appeal for my revision because my BMI was not high enough. I was diagnosed after losing 165 pounds.

Carmen, Believe me, I have no idea how insurance companies make decisions. It's a mystery. My sleep apnea diagnosis came after the approval, so it had no effect and I received approval in 24 hours. Maybe someone who has the same insurance company that you have can help you. And, as for sleep apnea, be glad you don't have it. Mine is treated now and I'm doing fine, but, before treatment, I work up every day with a blinding headache. I was tired all day and fell asleep at the drop of a hat. It was actually a very creepy feeling. And what is worse is that I would suddenly fall asleep while driving. I thank God every day that somehow I survived that. Donna

..I went for my sleep study about a month ago. My test results say that I don't have sleep apnea. Would the insurance say yes quicker if I did have sleep apnea or it doesnt make a difference?.....

Topic: RE: Itchy Nose
My nose was quite itchy when I first started using the CPAP -- but not while I was wearing it. When I woke up, during the day, etc. I would have sneezing fits that drove me crazy. No problems now. Usually, that kind of reaction is caused by some kind of irritation to the vagus nerve. Sorry I can't be of more help. Donna

Topic: Itchy Nose
When I wear the cpap, my nose itches. I am constantly waking up during the night to lift the mask and scratch my nose. My cpap has a humidifer so I know the problem is not from dryness. I also have this problem anytime I have dental work done. My nose itches throughout the whole time. Help.

Lynn, You may need to have the pressure lowered again. Another suggestion to avoid another sleep test yet. Ask the sleep clinic or pulmonologist if they have an autopap to try rather than have another sleep test. Jeanne
