Interesting. I am 6 months out from RNY and have been very successful. However, my primary doctor told me to continue to use my CPAP machine. I guess every doctor is different.
Its no biggie. They attach a lot of wires to your head, some on your chest and one on your leg. I think the last one is to look for restless leg syndrome. I would wear button down shorty pajamas to make it easier for yourself and the tech. It is definitely more difficult to fall asleep with the mask on but the wires are not that noticable. If you have trouble falling asleep anyway you should bring all the stuff that will help you like a pillow or something.
It is really not a big deal...I kind of enjoyed being away from the kids and the dog for a night. LOL
I will have my first sleep study this Thursday. What should I expect? Where do they wire me up at? Should I wear pajamas or a gown? I am afraid I will not be able to go to sleep all wired up! :)
I was told by my doctors not to wear my CPAP after surgery. It is one week later and I'm meeting docs on Friday, but I'm wondering if others gave been given same advice? I really feel like I need it since I am restless without.
Apnea is a horrible medical condition and can definitely contribute to weight gain, amongst other things. The thing with apnea is weight LOSS will reduce the apnea. Wearing a cpap controls the number of nightly episodes. I recently went through WLS to reduce my extreme apnea. Cpap and previous surgery did not work for me. Hope my sleeve works! Lmk if any questions.
Hi I need some help. I was told sleep apnea could be a major cause of weight gain. Is this true? Has anyone lost weight after using the mask? Thank you.
I believe it's an insurance requirement. My surgeon knows that I have a CPAP machine and they told me to bring it to the hospital with me, but they've never asked me specifically how often I use it or for any data. My machine has a memory chip that I mail in to the CPAP provider periodically, but they are not in contact with my surgeon or are even aware that I'm having the surgery. My pulmonologist is aware because I had to get a clearance from him for the surgery and he's already told me he will administer another sleep study in a few months to see if I still need the machine.
Hello, my name is Natalie and I am interested in getting the cpap for my husband who has severe sleep apnea and we cannot afford the $1400 co pay the insurance company is asking us to pay. He's having headaches, dreaming, and not sleeping. I will be very appreciative if he can get it ASAP.and Thank you for taking the time to read my message.
I have been on my CPAP for a week now. I hate it... but I have to use it to get surgical clearance...my last clearance I'm waiting for before surgery. .. Any way I have the nasal pillow one. My straps have cloth covers on them, so the only plastic or silicone touching my skin is the nasal pillow. I have very sensitive skin and have not noticed any breakouts. I just turned 40 and use moisturizer every day. I have to use the Olay sensitive skin each morning, but have not needed any at night. If you have oily skin and getting wrinkles, maybe try a combination moisturizer? Sorry not much of help.
Good Luck
