Topic: RE: Travel with CPAP
A week can seem like eternity if you're having sinus problems. I've taken mine. I usually pack some distilled water in a tupperware container or drinking water bottle, just in case I can't find any. For a week, you shouldn't really need that much. Have fun on your trip!

Topic: RE: Awaiting results from my home sleep study
I had a home study done and it came back normal. But things did not get better so then they had me do a sleep study and sure enough I had it. I am still trying to get use to the machine. I take it off in the middle of the night when I am sleeping. My bmi is only 38 so this is what I needed for my wls.
Good Luck

Topic: Travel with CPAP
Hello
I am leaving for Cozumel on Saturday, but trying to organize everything this evening. I have traveled with my cpap within the country for an extended weekend. At that time, I was not using the humidifier. Now, after horrific sinus problems I have a humidifier. My question, do you take the humidifier? Or should I try to go without it since we will only be gone a week? Also, has anyone had trouble getting distiled water?
Thanks for the help
Pat
Topic: RE: How does the sleep study go?
Sleep studies are a breeze. I got there at about 8:30 p.m. , I wore mens jammy pants and a tee shirt, they hooked up a lot of wires all over me with a box/monitor hooked to it and I went to bed. The bed was a full size comfy bed. You can lay on any side that you are comfortable. They wake you up around 5 or 6 and you go home. You will have this thick goo that held the wires all over. It washes out pretty good. After they have read your results they will have you come in again and they will do it all again but this time with a c-pap machine on you. When done in the morning the same as before. If you need a machine you will be ordered one and get it in a couple weeks. I don't snore anymore and feel so rested all day. No more falling asleep when driving or working. Sometimes in my sleep I take it off and I can tell when I quit breathing. I wake up with a huge gasp. Plus my cat will get in my face and scvream at me and lick my face until I answer. There are two kinds of masks. the triangle type that goes over thwhole nose and th fat soft bar that goes under the nose. I have the bar one and I sleep on my face and side. No problem.
Topic: RE: How bad is the sleep study?
Mine is Tuesday night. I'm told they goop up your hair - not real happy about that - I'm pretty anal about my hair! And, of course, I'm bringing my Linus pillow - I've had it since I was 5 and refuse to part with it. I can't sleep much now - imagine how much trouble I would have without it?
Good luck girls! Cheryl

Topic: Awaiting results from my home sleep study
Hi. I'm new to this board and OH, I am applying for approval for WLS and I just had a sleep study done 4/26. I was given a monitor to wear at home for a night and my doc's office will download the data and let me know the results within 3 weeks. I have suspected sleep apnea for a while now, but dismissed my excessive tiredness on having kids, but the more I thought about it the more I realize I felt really tired before kids and even once they were sleeping all night. Now it's gotten so bad I cannot remember things and have no energy to do anything anymore. I've asked my husband if he notices me snoring or stopping breathing or gasping, but he falls asleep so quickly, he's out before I would even start any of that lol. He says I snore when he happens to be up and can't sleep for some reason he does hear me. I catch myself waking up with a gasp frequently, especially when I am first falling asleep.
My fear is that the sleep study will come back normal (not that I WANT apnea) and I will have to feel this tired forever. I just want to feel like myself again. I also am waiting to submit my request for WLS since I need one more co-morbidity to qualify, this is my last shot at getting approved. Strangely I have great blood pressure and perfectly normal cholesterol levels and no other medical problems besides being overweight (BMI 40) and PCOS.
Topic: Test done!!
I went last Thursday for my sleep study. I felt kind of foolish for putting it off for so many months, after having it was a breeze. They would not tell me how many times I stopped breathing but they did come in the middle of the night and put the mask on me so they said if they had to do that it was almost a sure thing that I have it...I could not believe how well I slept with the machine...I could not do the mask as well as I did the nostril one. I am kind of excitied to get my machine though because I want to wake up feeling as good as I did the other morning. So anyone that has to go for theirs it is really no problem...there are many wires hooked up to you but I was still able to sleep.

Topic: Laying on your back ,side or stomache does it matter?
I been on c pap for 2 months. Does anybody know if when laying on your side or stomache do you still get the full effect of the machine as you do when you lay on your back?

Topic: Sleep study scheduled
Hello,
I have a sleep study scheduled in May and it can't get here soon enough.
I sometimes wake up during the night gasping or I will wake up and my heart is beating so fast that it feels as if it is vibrating.
My Dr. feel that my heart and blood pressure is compensating for a lack of oxygen, hence the sleep study.
Did anyone else have this experience prior to being dxd with Sleep Apnea?
