Topic: RE: Water in the tube from the humidifier?
Panda I had the same problem with the water getting into my tube.  when I asked about it at the Drs office I was told it was because Id filled the H2o level in the holfing tank just a bit over.  When filling it try to keep the levels just below the fill line, and it did help.  I haent had a problem with it since.  Goof Luck......Fire

Topic: Dreaming I am Choking.

Hi to all.
I am wondering if any of you ever dream you are choking and wake up with a sore throat (I am guessing from choking).
I know this sounds strange (maybe it doesn't) but... I dream what's going on.
Like... if I am extremely physically exhausted I will dream that I can't stay awake.
If the alarm is going off, I dream there is music.
Lately, I have been dreaming I can't breath. No matter what I do I can't catch my breath or inhale. It feels like my throat is raw and no matter how hard I try to inhale I just can't.
When I wake up after these dreams, my throat is raw and sore.

My question is, do any of you have this? Am I the only weirdo on this thing or is this normal?

Thanks,
Katie

Topic: RE: The dreaded Bi-Pap Machine
Hi Gale,

Thanks for your thoughts, I have been fighting using a CPAP for several years. When they said I had sleep apnea, they called it a mild case. So I went the nasal surgery and then the palate surgery then went for another sleep test to see if the surgeries had done there job.. Well so much for that idea. What this test came back with is that I have 'central sleep apnea' (when your brain forgets to tell you to breath) during the sleep study I quit breathing 160 times an hour. What they try to do during the night is to get you NOT to have that happen,. They were not able to do that for me.. and here I am finding it out 6 months after the sleep test.. not thinking I had a problem.. so what if i was sleepy every day and fell asleep anytime I sit still long enough. Now I am trying to use the BPap but wake up during the night with a totally dry mouth.. and since the WLS I definitely drink a lot of water.. But I, like you, have come to the conclusion, it is worth living if I have to go through this no matter what.. since I am looking fairly good 'for my age'.. no sense in leaving this world now..

Hugs to you,
Sandy

Topic: RE: sleep apnea and weight loss
I no longer need my cpap.  But when I got it took time to adjust to then I could not sleep without it.  I started by wearing it for as many hours as I could as time went on it got easier and easier,  It took me awhile to stop using it because I was so attached to the machine.  It is important that you use it.  Good Luck

Wow, 160 times an hour!?  Holy crap!  You have lost 80 pounds so far, that's great!

I'm hoping that after I lose even 80 pounds I'll be down to 200 pounds and possibly I can not use my cpap anymore.

I was wondering where all of these dreams were coming from!! That was going to be my next search .. vivid dreams, almost real!! My first sleep test came in at a 160 times I quit breathing per hour and they never got it so that I slept all night.
I do not have obstructive sleep apnea, I have central sleep apnea where your brain forgets to tell you to breath so I am on a bpap machine, it has oxygen along with it. I am not doing very good with it, I wake up with a totally dried out mouth (yes I do have water with it) about every 3 hours so sometimes, to get some sleep I just throw it off.. not good, I know. After using it for 2 weeks, that will be this week, I am going back for another sleep test to see how I am doing, I have lost 80lbs and I am hoping that will help greatly.

Maybe we should be putting these dreams into books and have them published.. of course changing the names to protect... etc, etc

Laughs,
Sandy

I don't know if you have gotten an answer yet, but have you checked to see if your company has enough employees to qualify for FML (Famiy Medical Leave Act), if so, you may be able to get that and it should protect your job.  And also, your superzisor is not allowed to ask why you are calling in sick, because that is a HIPPA violation.  As far as I know, it's a federal thing that says your employer can't ask why your calling in sick.  Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

My health insurance paid for it after the medical provider called me after one month's usage to see if I was compliant in using the CPAP at least 4 hours a night.

Remember that as you lose weight you will need to being rechecked to see if your settings need to be changed or stopped. In my situation, after losing 80 pounds, I hoped I would be cut loose. It turned out that I had the pressure increased! ) Lucky me!

I use nasal pillows and I still had a rough time adjusting to using the CPAP. Now I can't really sleep well without it.

Diana

PS. Pugs should be issued CPAPs at birth!
