Topic: RE: Very tired with my cpap!
Hi Heather, since using a C-Pap machine for almost 12 years, I have never really felt rested. I am hoping that in having the DS (duodenal switch) WLS, I can get rid of my apnea once and for all.  My only consolation is that I am alive. It hurts though when I hear people pounce on me because I say I am tired. WTH. Yeah buddy, try living with this diagnosis. I hope you get to that spot soon where you do not feel tired.

hELLO Stockton neighbor. WAs that med Provigil? I tried that a few years ago, mainly used for narcolepsy, but it did not work for me. My pressure is on 16.5, but if I remember how to do it, I may up it. It was at 20 before gastric bypass and even got lowered to 10, but I was extremely tired at 10 so now I am just so-so tired.  Now that I have gained weight back, I think I need to up it till after my May 19th duodenal switch surgery.

I never heard of a V-PAP.  I have had a Bi-PAP machine though, but mostly have used the good ol C-PAP. I hate it and cannot wait to get rid of it once and for all.  YEAH DS!

Topic: RE: Dry Mouth
I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, BUT I have had a C-PAP machine since '97 so that is over 10 years, almost 12.  I have yet to feel rested, have yet to not have a dry mouth, have yet to like that crap of a machine, albeit, I am still alive and my BF says I do not snore with it.  so I continue to use it. I will be going for my duodenal switch revision surgery on May 19! Can you say stoked???? Best of luck.

I don't really have any suggestions for you, but I know how you feel!  I've got a very stuffy nose right now as well, and can't use my cpap machine either.
If anyone does have any suggestions, I'd be interested in hearing them, too!

Topic: VPAP machine for complex apnea
Is anyone using a VPAP machine after being diagnosed with complex sleep apnea?  I just had my third sleep study and it sounds like this is the machine that my doc will be recommending for me.  I guess it analyzes each breath you take to customize the next breath.  I'd be interested in anyone's experience with this.  Thanks.

Also consider... your BMI has to be over 40, or be over 35 with a comorbity condition.

Complexities and cumbersome features of present day CPAPs is an issue of concern indeed. But the times are a changin. New researches are underway and there is a new ray of hope to have customised cpap with extended features very soon. Read for more details in an interesting article at sleep apnea disorder digest.

Incidences of sleep apnea leading to complex pulmonary hypertension are not commonly reported in this form. However, there must be cases with such symptoms. It would be good to see some real life experiences in this regard.
