I did my CPAP calibration last night and the mask I got comes off rather easily.  My boys think it's a "Spiderman" mask so they are excited about it.  I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was... so we will see once I get my eqipment if it's as quiet.

Thanks.

I am so glad I happened into here.  I was put on the CPAP in 2003.  Until recently I have only used it a couple of times. (Hate the **** mask)  I did not relate my irritability and tiredness to my sleep apnea.  I was ready to fall asleep by 11:00am each day.  I am back using the CPAP daily.  Never thought about nap time.  I know I am breathing better and better rested now.  (Still hate the mask)  I do not care if WLS takes care of this or not.  I have so many other issues that WLS will take care of or improve.

Kelly,  I guess I didn't realize you were worried about managing it with 2 small kids.  It's no sweat at all.  It pops right off if you need to get up quickly.  You just need to be careful if you sleep with earrings and yank it off instead of unclipping the strap.  I had no trouble with it at all, and since I was sleeping peacefully with it I heard my kids instead of my snoring drowning out everything.  LOL

The CPAP is really not that hard to manage. You only wear it when you are asleep and it comes off easy if you have to get up with the kids.

be sure you follow the medications for the ulcer. With weight loss surgery these can be very dangerous. I had one four months out and it took several months to heal. I still have problems keeping the mask on for the night. I wake up at midnight and it is off. Some days i don't htink it is worth it. I sleep through the night without it. I have mild sleep apnea. My pressure is only 5. They want to up it to 12 over time.  I expect to have the sleep apnea even when i lose weight since it runs in my family.

Glad your ears are feeling better too.

I don't know what I'll need to do post-op. That will be a question for the doctor when I see him on  the 11th. The nurse asked my pressure number when she schedulked my surgery. I assumed that that would mean I would use it in the hospital...who knows though???

I do know when I had bronchitis my PCP said not to use it. It actually hurt me then!

You'll sleep better once you get your machine. Your waking yourself up when you stop breathing but your not aware of it.

I had to play with different masks before I found when I liked but once I got use to it I loved it!!

Now I no longer need it

found out my pain was an ulcer!  my ears are better.  my sleep study home study nurse said that could happen if you got started off wrong at night.  If you feel like you are stopped up at the beginning, take if off and wait a few minutes and try again.  It seemed to work okay.  I'm on a medicine for ulcer.  already feel better.
