..I went for my sleep study about a month ago. My test results say that I don't have sleep apnea. Would the insurance say yes quicker if I did have sleep apnea or it doesnt make a difference?.....

Carmen, Believe me, I have no idea how insurance companies make decisions. It's a mystery. My sleep apnea diagnosis came after the approval, so it had no effect and I received approval in 24 hours. Maybe someone who has the same insurance company that you have can help you. And, as for sleep apnea, be glad you don't have it. Mine is treated now and I'm doing fine, but, before treatment, I work up every day with a blinding headache. I was tired all day and fell asleep at the drop of a hat. It was actually a very creepy feeling. And what is worse is that I would suddenly fall asleep while driving. I thank God every day that somehow I survived that. Donna

If you qualify with the BMI you don't need it. It helped me win my appeal for my revision because my BMI was not high enough. I was diagnosed after losing 165 pounds.

Sleep apnea is called a co-morbid be cause it can kill you, it is commonly caused by obeseity, but not always, I had sleep apnea before i became obese as a result of by gerd, also not related to obesity, babies are some times born with it and die from it, sids, if you have sleep apnea you have to be tested every two years and stay on therapy to keep your drivers license in delaware, and everywhere for a CDL. NO YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE SLEEP APNEA.

Walter where did you get your information that you have to be tested every two years for sleep apnea if you have a CDL? I drove long haul 48 states and Canada for years and never once was even asked if I had sleep apnea. I am not from Delaware, but you said everywhere for CDL. Just curious. I have not yet been diagnosed with sleep apnea, but expect to be when I go for my sleep study next Tuesday. I'm not driving professionally anymore but I keep my license up to date and your statement caught my eye. Linda

Its on your health certificate, exam, once you check it off they will hound you, I have been put on 60 day susppension notice pending approval of rexamination by sleep exam for my CDL,, I don't drive regularly, just keep my license also as a alternate job opportunity. I actually pays off, the physical brought to light my diabetes, gets me a cardiac stress test. good diabetic work up, sleep study every two, more than I would get regularly
