Has anyone's sleep apnea gotten better after weight loss?

Mine is definitely better, but I'm still using the CPAP and haven't had an official sleep study yet. My doctor told me to wait until I have lost almost all my weight. But, I am definitely doing better because sometimes I sleep without the CPAP and I DON"T wake up with a headache. Donna

Donna, You are so lucky! I have lost over 100 lbs and my last sleep study indicates that I still have sleep apnea. I really wish I could get rid of that CPAP machine. Pam

That's sad that you still have sleep apnea. Some people have it regaldess if they are thin or obese. I never went back to have a sleep study done but I'm sleeping through the night without ever waking up and NO more bathroom breaks. Now my Machine sits in my closet. Such a shame as I paid so much for it. Donna 338/163

Unfortunately you dont know if you need it or not, its not about waking up, its about the blood chemistry,of your brain, how your heart is fundtioning, blood pressure. not even if your snoring, apnea can be ruinging your kidneys you wont know it. but your life if your happy, live it your way, you are spinning a six shooters barrel with a live round for what. it doesnt cost anything to use it. or get a study and be healthy. . . read my post at the top of the list for more info.

Hi, I was actually diagnosed after losing the 165 pounds. Mine is obstructive sleep apnea. So unfortunately I will always have it. You don't realize the damage that gets done if you don't take care of it.
