I was wondering if anyone here ever needed their pressure setting raised at some point. I thought I remembered reading a post where someone set their machine to a different level on their own. I think I may need a higher setting. My setting feels to me like nothing. I used to feel the air coming in, now I don't. It's been three years or so, and I have gained weight since then. I don't want to have a new sleep study and machine if I can avoid it, because I'd have to pay 20%. I know they told me machines should be replaced every two years, but those things are outrageously expensive. Over a thousand dollars for a glorified fan. I bet it costs twenty dollars to make! Anyway, I was wondering if I should reprogram my machine and raise the levels a little at a time til it feels right. I just don't feel like it's doing the job like it used to. Anyone else ever try this? BTW, I can't get surgery anymore because I found out I'm pregnant, but this is the only good board I've found online for apnea people. Thanks, Sarah

Do you have a sleep doc? Talk to him/her about it. When I went in for my sleep study review, he increased mine to start at 11 and it automatically raises as needed. I honestly don't pay attention any longer to my number.

You would have to be out of your mind to adjust your machine by feel. Your lungs are made up of a million aioli, sacs that exchange molecules of gas that an electron microscope can see, and you want to fiddle with the pressure regulator like filling a bicycle tire.

I just had another sleep study done after 2 years and my number went from 11 to now 17! I knew it though I could tell a difference that the 11 wasn't working anymore so I went in for re-eval You should speak with your doctor as they can make the changes you need. I wouldn't change it on my own! Good Luck God Bless, Julie
