three's a crowd
Hi!
I am new to this board and thought this would be a good question to start on. Let me start off by giving some of my history: My Hubby says I snore, I deny it hehe. When I sleep, I tend to stop breathing, my test showed 6 times in a 20 min span! I hardly would hit REM sleep and my oxygen levels bounced in the low 60s. I never felt rested and had a hard time waking up in the mornings, I wonder why!
I am now the proud owner of the Comfort Curve mask and love it! It is less constrictive then any other ones I tried and I can wear my glasses to watch tv before bed with the mask on. I would recommend it as it comes with a small, medium and large nose piece so you can fit yourself and not have to go in for a fitting or guess when you order it. Here is a link if you are interested!

Hi! I got my CPAP last Friday. That was the first night iin two years that I slept in my own bed without having to get up because I woke my husband with my erratic snoring. What a feeling!
I got a good night's sleep the first night and every night since then. It is incredible. I'm still getting used to my nightly routine, but it's all good. CPAP is definitely a life-changing experience.

I wish you luck... I've had my cpap since Dec and still have problems using it. It takes forever for me to fall asleep with it (I usually hit the ramp button several times before dozing off) and once it's up to full pressure it wakes me up. It's loud and cold and makes my sinuses hurt. I feel that I actually "sleep" better without it but I was diagnosed with severe apnea so I know I don't get quality sleep.
Sorry to be so negative but I feel like it's a catch 22 situation where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't use it.

Hi Jolene,
When I had my sleep study done, it showed I woke up 60 times a minute. So basically I never slept. I got my CPAP in November and I had a really hard time adjusting to it. I would constantly take it off at night. My uncle used a full face mask and suggested that to me since I only used the one over my nose. The first night I used it was incredible. I could not believe how much a difference it made. I actually slept the whole night and the next day I felt wonderful. I am so grateful for it now. When I don't use it, I am always so tired the whole day. It would be great to not use it but I have finally come to the realization that in order to I need it. My husband has been really great about it also. If I take it off during the night, he wakes me up so that I will put it back on.
Good luck.
I got my CPAP a few weeks before surgery. The first night I was very conscious of the mask, but I did sleep. I woke up the very first morning without my usual headache and feeling rested for the first time in a year. The next night I slept like a baby. I experimented and didn't use the machine one night and woke up with a blinding headache the next morning. I'm so used to the mask that, when I wake up, for a few seconds, I think there's nothing on my face. In short, I'm very happy with the machine, but I am looking forward to being without it eventually.
