Mail Order Sleep Test

Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm finding out more and more disturbing things about my insurance (CIGNA), and this sounds hokey to me! CIGNA only has one provider for sleep studies and they fed ex you a "kit". It's a do it yourself sleep study for 3 nights and on the 4th day, fed ex will come pick it up. They have a doc that downloads the info and then calls your PCP with report and possible dx. WTH? There are only THREE sensors to attach..... I think the only thing I like about it is that I can keep to my normal routine and not try to fall asleep somewhere strange with 37 people watching me!!! Anyone else ??

I have read about this not sure if it's as good as the other ones where you stay all night but you have to do what you have to do ... good luck.. Shelly -33

i have heard of this system, it relies on micro computer processors, to messure the breathing pattern. and records the data, takes 3 nites of study to isolate test iregularities,and to confirm results , my first test in 93 was vidio taped by a intern watching thru a glass window in black lite, now its done with telemetry monitors. i recomend you study the different ci/bi pap mach available , i like bipap, with humidification best. bi pap is a smother hi/low pressure system and doesnt togle as greatly as cipap when you are sleeping.
