When do you feel better?

Donna, I went to my doctor Friday because I couldn't stand it anymore. I have been on this machine for 6 weeks and still feel tired. He told me a couple of things. #1 he said they really can't tell what your pressure should be set at by one sleep study. He said ideally, patients should spend three consecutive nights in a sleep lab so they can watch you over three nights. He said it's too hard finding an insurance company that will pay for that. By only watching you for one night, they only get one snapshot of how you sleep. He said it can change from night to night. He also said some people and they don't know why, just never feel more rested even though their CPAP is working and their apnea stops. He said there is a drug they can prescribe (can't remember the name) that will help you feel more rested and less sleepy during the day. He said the drug works and will make you feel better. Before putting me on this drug, he is going to give me a new machine. This machine will auto-adjust to the correct pressure throughout the night and keep a history of the pressure it used on me so he can review it after three weeks. He thinks I may need a higher pressure and this machine will tell them that. You should go back and talk to your doctor. There are still things you can do to feel better. I'm not giving up! Ed
