I don't blame you for being freaked out. I have not had my surgery yet, but am planning to and one of the many reasons why is sleep apnea. My C-PAP is set at 16. My C-PAP has a card in it that I can take to my pulmiinologist who can down load the infromation and order any adjustments that are needed. I would not make any changes in using my C-PAP without first discussing it with my pulminologist. I think this is  an important topic, one of the reasons we have this surgery is to be able to stop using these mechines, we do need to know what the issues may be after the surgery and when is the best time to stop using the mechines?

I was so relieved to see this post. I'm four days post op and home. I tried to sleep with my cpap last night and kept getting woke up with the feeling that my pouch was full of air and my tummy and insides gurgling like crazy. MY initial thought was that some of the air from my cpap (I'm set to 16) was leaking by and considering my pouch is the size of a human thumb right now it wouldn't take much to fill up to discomfort. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

thank god I am not the only one.

My CPAP hurt my stomach the first few nights I used it. I am set at 11 but I could tell air was ending up in the my stomach because I burped a lot or woke up with a tummy ache.  I quit using it.  I know not the best idea but the pain with the CPAP was worse than without.

However, I am getting really tired now every day.  I am not getting enough sleep so I know I need to use the machine again but frankly it still hurts.  I tried again over the last few nights and it is still hurting my tummy.  I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday to review this. He wants to see my mask.  Maybe switching masks will help.

Saw my doctor about the CPAP. He's making me switch masks from a full face mask to one that just covers my nose.  He still wants me to use the CPAP machine because I wont heal as fast without O2. :)  Is everyone else who is having issues, also on full face masks or are they using mouth and nose masks?
