CPAP and Kaiser insurance

Has anyone been denied surgery from not using their CPAP prior to surgery?  I have Kaiser and I'm going through a 6 month program and had to answer that question last week in my class.  I do not use my CPAP because it suffocates me.  I don't even have it anymore.  I got rid of it a few years ago.  That would make me nuts if I get denied because of this!  They also asked if I've smoked cigarettes within the last 3 months.  I do smoke here and there.  Not on a daily basis though.  I want to be honest with the questions because if it's detrimental to my health during surgery then I would rather they know.  I could very easily lie about it though ya know?  Which I'm not...

Heather,

I recall in the past someone mentioning that their Doctor refused to perform the surgery if they didn't use their CPAP. It might have been on the main WLS forum if memory serves me right.

Some surgeons require that CPAP users bring their machine to the hospital with them or else they wont operate on them.   Good luck!

I have Kaiser GA and was told to bring my cpap machine with me to the hospital for my surgery.
