Dry/sore throat, cough, ear discomfort?

This Saturday will make 5 weeks that I have been on my CPAP. I love my machine. I sleep better now than I ever have in my entire life. However, I wake up every morning with an extremely dry throat and mouth, and my throat stays sore throughout the day, my ears feel full of pressure and I cough really bad every morning for about 30 mins. I'm not sure what is going on. I don't know if it is from the pressure of my cpap or something else. I love my cpap but these symptoms make me feel miserable.

Anyone else experience this?

The ear pressure is pretty common.  Can you try ear plugs?  This helped for me.

As for the dry throat, does your CPAP have a humidifier?  Mine does and I've never experienced a dry throat while on it.

I have no suggestion for the cough--can you call your respiratory therapist?

I have been on my C Pap since July.  It has really made a difference in my life.  I have a humidifier on mine, but I still wake with dry mouth and sore throat.  I also have worse GERD with the C PAP, but it passes fairly soon after getting up and drinking a hot beverage. My Dr already had me on Nexium before bed, but told me I needed to also take an over the counter acid reducer pill in the morning.   I like to keep a cup of water with a straw in it next to the bed so I can get sips of water during the night if I wake up.
Good Luck.  I am hopeful have my RNY will help my Apnea.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

Thank you guys so much. I have been using the humidifier on the second setting and sometimes the third, I have noticed a huge difference in the dryness of my throat, I don't wake up with excrutiating pain that feels as if I am trying to swallow glass. My ears are a bit better. I think my biggest problem is my allergies. I have never had a huge problem with allergies until this year. I am on 2 allergy meds now and still have problems. The humidifier is most deffinately a huge help.

Now I just need to get my allergies under control lol. Seems like it is one thing after another.

my pulmunologist put me on nasonex for allergies. if your nose isn't clear the machine isn't going to work so well for you.

Also as we get into colder weather, might need to put your tubing under the covers with you so you don't build up water in the tube from condensation

You have an old post but heres my answer that may help for a dry mouth.

Do NOT use alcohol based mouthwashes. Use SMARTRINSE. Dr said.

ORAGEL makes a dry mouth gel you can try for your mouth. Maybe that will help. It is glygerin based with a little flavor.

Hope you solved it by now.
