I was diagnosed with severe sleep apena last Thursday and tomorrow I go back for my CPAP study. I am a stomach/side sleeper. How have tthose of you who sleep this way been able to adjust to using the CPAP. I sleep most confort..I geuss..on my stomach. Is there anything that I need to know about coping with this.
Thanks

I have been sleeping on my side for a while now but I used to sleep on my back. I also am pretty comfortable sleeping on my stomach.
What I found during my sleep study last week was that with the CPAP on, I was much more comfortable sleeping on my back than I have been in a long time. It turns out one of the reasons I was uncomfortable lying on my back is because it is harder breathing that way.
Depending on the mask you end up choosing, you can still sleep on your side. Stomach is probably not a realistic way to try to keep the mask on.

Hi Shante,
i have had sleep apnea for over 3 yrs and have used my APAP (cpap) for the last 2.5 yrs.
I can not sleep without it now. I get so much comfort out of having the air pushing my lungs open.
I do not use the moist, just dry ..that way I can sleep on my side and have the hose go up over my head.
I once forgot my machine on a trip and spent $125$ to have it shipped overnight. My partner thanks me.. He can now sleep.
The APAP machine is newer, it adjusts the air pressure according to your breathing. the regular CPAP is just set a one level.
You will be fine.

Hi Shante, I have had my cpap for more than 4 years, setting of 15 and a water reservoir. I sleep on my side, both of them, rarely on my back. The hose is 6 feet long and I just flip it over my head when I roll over, no problems. You will get used to it and see that it really does help. I don't think I could sleep without mine, in fact, I know I can't.
Yea I think I will do great once I get one at home. I did my slep study last Thursday and I slept on my stomach and I know it was the best sleep I ever had. It didn't really affect the way I normally sleep at all. I am glad about that and glad to know I will be able to function normally throughout the day.
