I have recently been denied coverage for WLS and have sleep apnea.  One of my doctors keeps saying that she thinks that if someone has sleep apnea, that the insurance company has to approve you for WLS if it is a covered benefit on your plan....does anyone out there know about this, and if so...where would I find the information in writing for my insurance appeal?

Holly,

Sleep apnea is one of the covered co-morbidities under my insurance that if you have you are eligible for the WLS. Check out your insurance coverage policy.

Also consider... your BMI has to be over 40, or be over 35 with a comorbity condition.
