Dreaming I am Choking.

Hi to all.
I am wondering if any of you ever dream you are choking and wake up with a sore throat (I am guessing from choking).
I know this sounds strange (maybe it doesn't) but... I dream what's going on.
Like... if I am extremely physically exhausted I will dream that I can't stay awake.
If the alarm is going off, I dream there is music.
Lately, I have been dreaming I can't breath. No matter what I do I can't catch my breath or inhale. It feels like my throat is raw and no matter how hard I try to inhale I just can't.
When I wake up after these dreams, my throat is raw and sore.

My question is, do any of you have this? Am I the only weirdo on this thing or is this normal?

Thanks,
Katie

Katie,

I haven't been diagnosed yet but I have some of the same problems. I once ran out into the hall in my jammies because the fire alarm was going off....turns out it was a new tone on my alarm cell phone!

The waking up with sore throat is scary it may just be snoring but you should get checked out right away because it could be apnea. In the mean time you should take extra pillows off the bed and sleep on your side. You could also try elevating your bed by putting pillows/blankets in between the matresses at the head of the bed or by putting wood or brick under the legs. It doesn't have to be high to help.

Also stay away from sleep aids to help you fall asleep they could be what is triggering your half-awake state.

 Hi,
Just wondering if you are using a c-pap machine or have you had a sleep study?
I know when I don['t use my machine I wake up because I can't breathe. actually I am not breathing and the body wakes up. The dry mouth is probably because you are sleeping with your mouth open and snoring Weill make the throat sore. Just some suggestions. hope it helps.  doodlesll

Hey everybody!
It turns out I had sleep apnea. The doctor said that the sore throat was a big neon flashing 'Warning' sign.
I lost weight and it went away! I had a sleep study done in May and another one in August. As of August, no more apnea!!!
