...and then she said" Renee, you stop breathing 30 times an hour"

Are you kidding me???????
How does one live with this and not know it? I asked this and many other questions when she called. She continued to tell me how my oxygen saturation was dropping to 50 %!
I feel sentenced! I am in denial. She scared me vewry vewry bad!
So I am going back to get the Monster Mask and do another of those * all wired up and no where to go* nights.
So the more I freaked out, the more she said there was people who stop breathing up at a 100 times an hour! Awhh come on already I said. But oh yeah....that's what I was told.

I stopped breathing 47 times an hour, and my oxygen level went down to 79% at times.  I have the cpap, and hated it at first, but now find I can't sleep without it.  I will be glad when I no longer need it.

I was a 47 times per hour person as well.
It took me going thru three masks to fine the one that works best for me. Now if I even have it on for 6 hours at night, I feel much better in the morning .

It is an inconvenience but necessary. There is a correlation between obesity and apnea....

Good luck!
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I have had sleeep apnea for 15 years. I had 93 episodes in an hour. BOY was I tired. My CPAP is my best friend. I have a life now.  It is an inconvience that you learn to live with.

I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea.  I can't believe I stopped breathing 201 times!  How am I still alive after going undiagnosed?  I am waiting for my machine and can't wait until it arrives.  The nasal pillows are great!  It will be nice to rediscover sleep.

I'm 40-60x per hour and I wake up over 100x per night - this is of course a short night (around 6 hrs) by the time I fell asleep plus being woken up for this or that.

I never opted for the CPAP (young and single and vain when I was diagnosed) but for most people it really helps.  OSA is actually my main reason for having surgery, I'm tired of always being tired!

I was paying around $12K CAD ($9750 USD) for surgery and the doc said I had to quit - so I did, cold turkey, hubby did too, at the same time as me.  Hubby apparently had already planned to quit over the Xmas holidays but didn't tell me til I said I had to quit too.  So it's been alot easier with no one else smoking in the house.  I actually talk about the quitting in my OH blog, check out from January 1st onwards, that's the day I quit :)

I am newly diagnosed and was told I was a 50.  I just got my CPAP machine today and it is set at a level 12.   They brought me the wrong mask, I like the tubes that go up your nostrils only.  So, they will bring me that one tomorrow.  So, for tonight I have the full-cover nose mask.

Looking forward to getting some zzzzzz''ssss

I have had this for 15 years I know as I have been really tired for about that long.  Not once did a Doctor ever suggest a sleep study.  (I was even 70 pounds lighter back then, maybe that is why).  I was always told I was depressed or overweight.....

Sorry to have missed out on so much from sleeping all the time or just being crabby and not enjoying life.....hope that can all change now....
