I have no health insurance

Hi!!!My name is Nina and I live in NYC. I've been suffering from sleep apnea for about 5 year and I'm not taking any medication for it because I don't have any insurance. I am really afraid that I am going to die in my sleep one day. I want to have the gastric bypass and I know it is not quick solution but I have tried everything and nothing works. I'm all out of options. I applied for medicated and I was denied health insurance just because I am not flat broke. I have $200 currently in my account and I am trying to get a job. But it is very hard.

I know it might take a while, but I am on SS Disability because of conditions due to my weight. If you have co-morbidities and issues relating, perhaps you could apply for the SS Disability and then you could get MediCARE. They will pay for the machines and medicines--I have the bi-pap. But, I know that whole process takes a long time. =(  Perhaps you could try Medicaid again--you never know! If I think of anything else, I will let you know!

Also....what if you get a random job that has benefits...even if its not your dream job...even McDonalds or something....just to get an Rx plan...just a thought.

I'm sorry you are going through these difficulties! Can your doc's office do anything? maybe they have hardship plans--to donate a machine or meds to you?
