Lisa, I understand where you are coming from. I have to admitt I am not doing well with cpap thing. I start out every night with it on. And I wake up at 3am every morning. I am not getting hardly any sleep. Maybe 5-6 hours a night. If I am lucky. I go see the dr. in a day or so. I have talked to the nurse several times. And she keeps telling me to wear it and not sleep without it. OH BOY that really helps. I have major headaches every morning, my family is beginning to hate me because I am so hateful. I do not like myself, or the way I am acting but I do not know what to do. I am so tired of hearing how wonderful this thing is, and how everyone feels so much better now that they have it. It makes me feel like some kind of freak because its not working that way for me. i have been told that its good for me because I have a heart condition and this will make me feel so much better. Well its been 3 weeks and I don't. But I will keep trying because I need to have WLS and if this is what I have to do to get it I will. I keep hoping that if I lose the weight I can turn my cpap into a nice dust collecting piece of ........ But till then i will keep using it. If you only use it for an hour a night. Try just wearing it during the day while you read or watch TV, and still try to use it at night. After all it is a small price to pay for trying to get healthier. And reminder you can always send me a post to rant, I will listen and understand. You are not alone even though it may feel that way sometimes. Just holler if you need to rant. LOL

Hi! I read your post about you CPAP machine and that you were getting headaches from it. I've been trying to use mine also but I wake up in EXCRUTIATING PAIN! My head and my entire body just ache! Were you ever able to find a solution to your problem? I have an appointment with a pulmonologist/sleep study center August 8th but i'm just curious as to what you found out and I hope you are doing much better! THanks, Michelle

Hi Lisa. I just got a c-pap about 3 weeks ago and I hate mine too. I think I get less sleep now than before. I hate my machine so much that I named her. Her name is (She Devil!) My understanding is after the surgery and weight loss that we no longer will have to use that monster. Good luck. Susan

I sure hope the sleep apnea goes away with weight loss - I hate my CPAP, too! Hate it a LOT. It took me forever to get sinus surgery and get those corrected and stop having sinus infections all the time - with the CPAP I get sinus infections constantly. I stopped using it and stopped getting infections. And yes, I clean it, lol. My nose just hates it. I've tried 3 or 4 masks and finally got one I was comfortable with but it still causes sinuses to go crazy. Agh! ~Mary

Mary, I went to my Pulmonary specialist yesterday. He said my number was 8 and thats not too bad. he told me usually they like to have you stay on it for at least 3 months to adjust to it. I told him I am now only getting about 4 hours of sleep because of the c-pap. He said if I can't stand it, then don't wear it. I have tried lots of adjustments. He said if I am getting less sleep now then it defeats its purpose. he told me some people simply can't adjust to it. I am one of those people. the auto c-pap seems to be the easiest to use, but still not what I would call a good nights sleep unless you count on feeling like you are going in for surgery every night. Doctor told me that the lap band surgery literally gets rid of the sleep apnea. Today I called the c-pap company to come and pick the darn thing up. This alone is enough to have the surgery. I like most of you have a throbbing headache and stopped up head every morning. I don't drink, but if I did this would feel like a major hang over everyday. I use two inhalers daily and that helps. So hopefully the weight will soon start dropping and I will never have to wear a c-pap. good luck to all of you. I think if your numbers are higher than mine it may be more critical to wear the c-pap. I have no high blood pressure or heart disease yet, so that helps. Talk to your doctors and not the sleep centers. They are making money off of us folks! Your doctor will tell you how important it is for you to wear these masks. Sue
