C-Papp Machine?

Do they ever malfunction, has anyone else had a problem? Since August I have had no problems with the machine. A few weeks ago I started to pull my mask off during the night because I had dry mouth (no saliva). This continued throughout the night with me waking up every 2 hours. I called the company that supplied the machine and they said I was probably sleeping with my mouth open and needed a full mask. Did I just develop this, sleeping with my mouth open? I agreed to get the full mask, but I am not using it because I find it more uncomfortable, a lot nosier, more leaks, etc. So, I am back to the nose mask only. My concern is that I am no longer getting a good night's sleep, I am waking up every few hours and moistening my mouth. Any suggestions? Connie

There are chin straps that attatch to the head straps, to keep the mouth closed. Maybe you should ask about the chin strap. I get my machine on Monday. Good Luck, Patty

I was given a full-face mask to keep my mouth closed. You are not doing yourself any good if you are sleeping with your mouth open. At first, the mask was awkward, but I adjusted. I did have leaks from time to time, but for the most part, it was fine. I had my lap RNY on 1/2/06 and stopped using the CPAP 3 weeks later. No more sleep apnea. Paula 259/139/135

Have you checked the humidity in your room? I have a full CPAP Mask because I have always slept with the mouth open and if the humidity is low, I will get severe dry mouth.

I did have a machine go bad on me. But it does sound like you have mouth issues not machine issues. Chin strap I have even heard of a glue that holds the mouth closed, somehow. You can trya full face mask, I did couldn't use it. I now sleep with my mouth closed.
