Sleep Study Questions???

I had my sleep study done on Thursday the 22nd and I won't be getting any results back for about 2 weeks. About half way through the night the tech came in and hooked me up to the CPAP machine. So my question is....That's a good sign that I have sleep apnea right? I mean I don't think they would have put the machine on me if I didn't need it right? I don't mean to sound happy to have sleep apnea, but it's one more comorbidity to put on the list ya know?. Just curious to see what others think or what your experience was. Thanks!! Morgan

I had a sleep study done a few months and they put a mask on me in the middle of the night too and I have severe sleep apnea. I can't understand why you gotta wait so long. I called the sleep clinic were I went and they told me how many apneas I had that night and what my oxygen level dropped to the next day. I would call and ask. Goodluck. Andrea

I'm not sure why it is taking so long. I called the pulmonologist that ordered the test the other day and asked if they could speed up the process. The front desk girl said she would see what she can do, but I haven't gotten a call back. At this point it's already been over a week so I may as well just wait it out . Thanks so much for the response!! Morgan

I would say you probably do have sleep apnea. That is exactly what happened to me when I went for my sleep study. The results took exactly 2 weeks and from there everything went very fast. The pulmonologist faxed a prescription to the respiratory therapist and I had the C-Papp machine ready to go in 3 days. I guess you have to "hang" for anothr week. Good luck. Connie

I just called the pulmonologist's office to see if they have my sleep study results and guess what...THEY DID!!! The front desk lady said that I have moderate sleep apnea and will require a CPAP machine. She said that they will send my info to Apria and they will take over from here. I'm not sure what will happen from here though. How do they know what mask I want? Do I just get the CPAP machine in the mail or do they set everything up for me? Well, that's one more co morbidity to add to the list. Hopefully the insurance will approve me soon! Wish me luck. Thanks! Morgan

Hi Morgan, Now that you have your results your doctor will send a prescription to the medical devices company, once they receive it they will contact you, set up an appointment and come to your home with the C-Papp machine. The mask is included with the machine, so whatever your dr ordered is what you will get. If for any reason the mask is not good for you, the company will contact your dr for another prescription (mask only) and again, come to your home to fit you. Hope this info helps. Hugs, Connie
