How does a secret pal work?

Hi guys!  I'm fairly new to OH and am wondering how this secret pal thing works?? 

Hi!  I am so sorry that I haven't answered this sooner for you.  I have a bad habit of not checking that often on the forum, and just answer my messages.

OK, here are our guidelines.
You must contact your pal once a week.  You will send her/him a nice gift of at least $10 EACH month for 3 months.  You will be assigned to someone and someone else will be assigned to you, so you make 2 new friends each quarter.  Our main objective is SUPPORT as we live our new lives or try to get approved for this life saving surgery.  If you decided you want to join, please be sure you are ready to TOTALLY commit.  I have had several people who are all excited about joining and then when they are assigned someone, they just fall off the face of the earth, and I end up having to drop them and reassign people and usually someone ends up getting shorted because someone else who signed up, didn't follow through.  If you want to join us and will take good care of your pal, please let me know as we are always happy to add new people.  Thanks.  FYI, if you want me to respond quicker, please email me at [email protected]    as I am on there daily and honestly don't check this site as often.

 Hi, My name is Patty and I am 2 months into my preparations for surgery.  I will be having the sleeve done.  I am hoping for a date of about May 1.  I am not sure what I am doing on this site, but a friend told me it was a great help to her.

I have to drop a few again because for some reason, people sign up and then drop off the face of the earth!  This is not a mandatory program or anything but some people just don't get it!

I will send you a questionnaire to fill out and return if you decide you do want to participate next quarter which begins very soon.

Why do you have to pay to make a friend?

You don't have to pay to make a friend.  You DO have to buy a gift if you join the Secret Pal Group.  It is NOT mandatory and is open to anyone who wants to join.
