June 10th!  A special day...Today is the Birthday of my Favorite French Professor!  :-)

Did you ever have someone in your life who just meant the world to you?  Well Jean-Louis Roederer was/is that person to me!

I am still under 300.  I need to go a week so I know it's real!

Have a great day!

:-)

It's real!!!

GET OFF THE DAMNED SCALE

I heart you Renee .... and yes, I did have a few someones in my life like that.  Have unfortunately lost touch with them all.  One was a prof of mine in Nursing School.  Not quite sure why she left such a profound impression on me, but I'm sure if she knew what I did at this point she would be proud of the nurse I have become.

LOL!  You know, now that I am under 300 the scales are more of a tool to keep me in check.

I was up a pound this morning but I did not let it phase me.  I am so content with ME right now.  Any more that I lose will just be a huge bonus!

It's amazing how someone can touch our lives.  I hope that I make an imprint on someone's life!

I started to write that I never had any one that made a huge impact on me but then I remembered that I did. She was the instructor of my psych clinical rotation. She was a kind caring person that realized very quickly that I was terrified to be on the lock down unit of the hospital. She really took me under her wings and showed me the way. At the very end of the rotation we had a review and she told me that she thought I would be a fantastic leader. Her comment was that I knew the power of 'please and thank you' and because of that I would be able to get people to do any thing that I needed or wanted them to do.

Today was a much better day. No issue at work. The scale is still stuck but I am not worrying about it...... yet.

Enough rambling from me. Happy Day to All!!
Love ya, Deb

You know Deb, it's funny - I too had an instructor that took pity on me during our geri rotation.  I am a NICU nurse -- peds is all I ever wanted to do -- the younger the better and my mantra has always been "if it's longer than my arm I don't diaper it, and if it talks back, I don't deal with it"...

This instructor knew how freaked I was about having to deal with geri patients (it is my own emotional issue not that I have a problem in general with older people), so she had me always pass meds.  She told me that she knew I was clinically competent and it would do me no good to get all upset for nothing.

I also had another instructor that stuck me in a supply closet and wanted me to clean (polish) my shoes.... I basically told her that I had patients to take care of and if my shoes were more important than my patients she should send me home and I would do a make up day.  We think she was alcoholic (altho thinking about it perhaps she could have been diabetic with the smell....) but she was not one of the more competent instructors I had.

Boy.... thinking about all this... I am SOOOOOO glad I am out of school!!

Isn't it amazing how far a "Please and Thank you" will get you!  I think you are a great person, Deb and would make a great leader in any situation!
