Tuesday June 9th --- Share and Care!
I'm a little pressed for time this morning but I at least wanted to wish you all the best day!
Anyone have any great news? Something they need to vent about?

I sort of have a vent.... forgive me because I have been up since yesterday morning and now am dealing with my 2 yr old and the 4 yr old home care baby and they are all up in each others faces and driving ME nuts.
Yes, my surgery is next Monday.... however, NO, I am not anxious, I am not excited, I am not having a 2 (or 1) week freak... It's as much to me as a doctor's appointment at this point. I don't have anything I really want to talk about, no, I didn't do anything to "prepare"..... etc., etc., etc.
Since I am a revision and have been living the RNY life for the past 7 years, to me this is NOT a big deal. Also, as I have said, I am NOT taking weeks (plural) off from work. I can't. I get NO paid time off and if I don't work my mortgage doesn't get paid.
I have had 5 open surgeries previously (gallbladder, RNY, plastics and 2 c-sections) and KNOW I bounce back quickly.
That all being said, yes, I will miss dumping. I like the feedback in knowing I will feel like crap if I eat something I shouldn't.
Ok, that's my vent. Thanks for listening... I will now go take another ativan and see if I can chill
People are asking some of the questions and I think I just needed to vent....
As for dumping... believe it or not I *like* dumping. I like the feedback to "remind" me that if I eat ------- (fill in the blank) I will feel like crud and more likely than not end up in a fetal position hoping I fall asleep quick to feel better.
If my RNY continued to "work" and wasn't physiologically broken (pouch was made ineffectively and stoma is more a "flow thru" than a restriction) I would be about 75% happy with it!! Another reason the DS is more of what I need at this point is because I know I will be needing long term NSAIDS and, as you know, with the RNY you shouldn't be taking them, I also tend to use Advil (another no-no with RNY) because I have a history of my liver being very sensitive to tylenol so I am not supposed to use it.
You asked for rants and vents and I guess I needed to do just that, so I did!
Thanks for being here guys - ok, mainly Renee and Deb since we are the seemingly most prolific writers on here - altho I will guess many more are lurkers.
Phew, I thought I was the target (deep down I am hyper sensitive!).
So, your revision...not an RNY? If I am reading correctly... a switch? I would love to hear more about it!
I think if you know you will need to have NSAIDS then the Switch is a better choice!
We are here for you and behind you 100%!!!!
And you are right...I did ask for vents so thank you for venting! :-)
Love you!

(and even if just you, me and Deb post, that is fine with me...I really hope that this Forum will become a support group, small and intimate. I urge all of you to post so that we can all get to know each other better!)

Scale is stuck. Going to the dietician Friday. Maybe she can help me out. I bet the work stress is having something to do with the stuck scale and slight gain.
I hope everyone else is having a better week than me. Thanks for listening.
Love ya, Deb

I bet anything that the stress of work is really adding to the lack of losses. Stress really can do that to us!

However, I am (as my kids used to call it when they were younger) an "out-nighter" (night nurse) and ya know, you day shift people do tend to think night shift is a great time to do stuff they weren't able to get to (don't mean you personally...).
to you and good luck with the dietician!!
love ya, Deb
