Question.. End Program or New Game?
Alright... I have been trying all week to think of a solution to the problems with the Secret Pals program and at this point I cannot come up with anything short of a) completely ending the program or b) completely reassigning pals AGAIN. I dont want to do either!
After putting alot of thought into it, I want to suggest something completely different...
What if, each month we had a 'Steal-a-Thon' I am sure you've heard of this game before, also known as dirty santa, chinese exchange, rob your neighbor, etc. Basically, I could take sign-ups of anyone wanting to join for the month maybe a week or 2 in advance of the game day.. and each person will go out and spend, ohh say $20 or so on a random secret gift. Come game day, we will all meet online in the forum and start passing and stealing gifts. Once you pick someone to open their gift, they can simply post a photo of the item they purchased.
There are a few reasons I am suggesting this game. #1. The whole purpose of this program was to make new friends, first and foremost. By meeting here atleast once a month, all at the same time in the same thread, we will not only be making friends with one pal, but everyone all at the same time!! 2. we will be more likely to receive our gift, because the number of players will be less (and no longer a secret!) 3. there will no longer be any long term committment. Either you sign up a week in advance for that months game and play, or you dont. simple.
What do you think?
So, until we come to a decision, I will start putting things together. Until then I suggest no gift exchanging this month, unless of course you want to. But PLEASE dont expect something in return this month if you do.

Hey Anissa,
What a gigantic mess for you! I feel so badly that you have to put so much thought and effort into something that should be so darned easy.
Your steal-a-thon idea, while probably fun for those who can do more than type on a computer (post photos, etc.) would be a real big challenge for me. I for one have to have my DH help me with anything involving posting of pictures. So, that won't work for me at all.
I'm playing Secret Pals on the over 50 forum also, so maybe I'll just have you take my name off now. Let me know if I should go ahead and reveal to the person who I've been sending to now, or wait.

I am so sorry this is not working I am truly sad that it has come to this. If you go to a steal a thon I am afraid I will not be able to join in as I have no camera and no way of sending or up loading pics Please let me know if this changes at all as I liked sending out to my pal. I will not send march unless I hear diffrentl

I would love to keep my secret pal.I really enjoy doing this and she is so special to me.if you go to the other way.I am like the rest i dont have a cam and it wouldnt work for me.I wish i had a better idea for you.I havent had any trouble with receiving my gifts from my secret pal she has been so wonderful to me and i would love to keep her.i hope this works out....Hugs to you kay

Thanks again for all your work. It's other people not fulfilling their obligations that has created the problem. I enjoy sending to my secret pal, and though I've yet to receive anything this year, and only received two last year, I am enjoying the sending part.
As for the steal a thon, I don't have a better suggestion, but would probably not take part in that. If the program ends, I understand. I'll keep reading to see how it pans out.
