Pseudo names?

I see posts from people with USER NAME of Secret Pal or Secret Buddy, etc...are these just made up names so you can talk to your pal without reavealing your identity?? Clever... Just re-register under a new secret name?? Once I get my secret pal assigned, I think I wanna do this too!! heehee...
