What to send???
I have received several gifts at one time and that was nice, I also belong to another secret buddy program and have never gotten just one gift...I usually get several small gifts to equal one. One gift was a yankee candle lamp and a box of cookies, and a pair of socks. Another time I received lip gloss, makeup and snacks....I am sure whatever you send will be appreciated I think the friendship is the best part. I had a pal up until July who only sent me one gift and that was in Feb.with promises to send more but never did....Not someone you can count on I guess? I am positive I will form a friendship with my new pal.

I switch it up...I sorta alternate...I won't go into detail...
don't want my Secret Buddy to guess who I am. 
However, here are a few ideas:
Regional stuff...local specialties are always nice
Low Carb stuff...protein bars, protein chips, etc.
Sugar Free stuff...chocolate is always a favorite I don't care who you are.
Use your imagination...my secret buddy knows I like to collect cookbooks and sent me one. My rule of thumb is pick out something you would love to have and then give it away.

I used the info from the questionaire Chris sent me when when she assigned a secret buddy. I am lucky to have a buddy with easy to buy for interests and she listed several. I buy totally based on what she likes rather than guessing and so far so good. I send one item teach month that usually costs about $20, a couple of things cost more. I have bought ahead as it has been such fun shopping for her.
FYI, I have not received anything from my secret pal, no email,card, let along a gift. But it is still fun to give.
