Thanks for the reply Amy Lou, it seems you are the only one to reply, so the dive trip for wls may be beached. Hey, good luck on your Lap-Band. My visit with the pcp went well, he is fully supportive of my decision and said he will support me in the long run of it as well. For me the next step is contacting my insurance provider to get a list of surgeons in the health plan organization, I already know that they will cover if the physicians say it's needed for medical and not cosmetic. Now to the fun stuff,my family and I also enjoy snorkeling, like your's, when we get the chance. I am the only one in my family that does scuba, there are just so many differant ways to go in scuba, so all I can say is if and when you take the plunge, relax and have a whole new world of fun.

Congratulations on starting the path to a new journey! I am having Lap-Band surgery on May 26, 2005. And plan on snorkeling July1! I happened to come across this board and saw your posting. Although I have never scuba dived I'm interested...and a trip with other wls folks sounds like fun. My husband and kids love to snorkel, unfortunately only get to go about once a year but when we do go it is a blast. Scuba is something we have talked about doing on down the road. Do let me know if something does get planned, would be really interested! Good luck with your meeting with PCP! Have a super day!

Hi all, just starting out on the wls path, will be having a talk with my pcp in the morning. I am also open water certified, and have so far done everything to get enriched air qualified except the dive portion of the testing. While reading the other posts, a suggestion wass made about getting a trip for wls divers together, has anyone moved in that direction? I enjoy reading what everyone has to say, so lets keep the dialog up

Jen, I'm not female, but I have the same problem with my wet suit, and though I haven't done it yet, I have been told that as far as the length goes it can be altered by just about any seemstrees. Hope this helps some. Earl

Wow! What a group! I am looking into Pre-Op for the Lap Band and one of our major concerns was regarding diving. I didn't thik it would be a problem since any air that might get trapped in the tube would be self contained and therefore no chance of entering my system. Anyone heard of anything engative with the band and scuba? I am in Ft Worth. Anne

Alan, I am a diver from the Rio Grande Valley(McAllen) area. Just moved to the losing side 6 days ago. My husband can't dive(sinus damage) but I would love to dive the flower gardens with you. How about a South Texas WLS trip? My husband, a chef, will make delicious Bariatric treats for us! Lot's of protein and TASTE GOOD!! We would like to plan a trip in July or August. Warning: have been living in "Yankee land" for ten years and have not dived in that time. Land locked. I also will need new equipment since I am going to be a shadow of my former self. Perhaps you can help with that as well. When is your surgery date? Lou Ann Gramann [email protected]

Hello Danny, My name is Alan Norman. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas and I am an SSI Scuba Instructor. I am still pre op. So I am hoping for the Bypass soon. I teach Scuba for Ascuba Venture in Corpus. We run rig trips almost every weekend in the summer. Ascubaventure.com is their web site. I will be out of the saddle for a few months but will be diving again real soon. If you ever get down this way let me know. Alan

I dive in a 7mm wet suit..The water is 50 degrees in summer. Kelp is beautiful, it's like swimming through a golden forest... it's the color of amber, and when the sunlight streams through it...WOW!!!! Nancy
