Topic: RE: QVC - Scrapbooking...
Hi Trisha,
I am an addict twofold - both to scrapbooking and to QVC. I find that their kits are good if you are beginning but not too great when you have a good amount of supplies.
One of the things I ordered was "Wacky Tac" in the liquid form. I have used it and it is great. It adds a "post-it" like glue to your items. The transparencies are also good.
A good investment is a small Xyron machine. It puts an adhesive back (you can have either permanent or repositionable-my favorite) on pictures or whatever. I like it because I seem never to be happy with my first attempt an any page.

Topic: Local Paint Bucket Swap
Hi I'm Dianna ... still praying to be approved.
I thought I'd tell you scrappers about a fun thing my local yahoo group of scrappers is doing. We're decorating paint cans. Each of us started our own buckets by glueing the decorative paper on the cans. Then our can passes to the next person in the group and that person puts some type of decoration on the can : it can be ribbons, glitter, metal embellishments, little handmade tags, acrylic pretties, silk flowers etc. Then we also put a little gift of a scrapbooking product inside the bucket thats worth up to $3.00. There are 18 of us participating. So by the time we get our buckets back they will be full of goodies for us to play with and decorated to the hilt. We're having lots of fun doing this. We swap buckets every two weeks.

Topic: RE: I just head about this si...
Trish,
I've been addicted to scrapbooking for about 5 or 6 years now. I really had to chuckle when you said you needed more supplies. Me and my buddies could open our own stores, but of course, we always need more supplies. I went to Creating Keepsakes University in Utah last summer and of course part of the fun is the endless shopping. I thought towards the end when we'd been to about 40 stores that there wasn't possibly anything else that I'd want ... wrong again. I have an absurd amount of products and still want more. That's the addictive part of this hobby.
Fortunately I have lots of goodies that have been free. I'm a wholesale rep part time for several scrapbook companies so I get products free to show to the stores ... so you can buy it .. hee hee.
In fact, I bought supplies for nearly two years before I made one single page. You need to get involved in a local scrapbooking group and then you'll stay active with it. It's fun to get together with friends and create.

Topic: RE: Anybody into bookarts?
I like buying the small hard page books for little kids. I paint over them and then either decorate the painted pages, walnut ink them and then decorate or sometimes put paper on and then decorate. I've made a few books from scratch ... accordian and such. Any kind of paper art I find fascinating.

There's a class on universalclass.com that I wrote - Small Handmade Books. It's class number 9366. I wonder if she is in that? People are really surprised what they can do with some paper and paste.
I save paper -- even bags from little gift stores can have interesting designs. Junk mail sometimes has little pieces I can use. And I recycle whatever I can and embellish with things like Oriental coins, tassels, etc.
I've had some little books at exhibits. It's really fun.

Sheryl posted above after your post about making books! See above! I haven't made one yet, but am interested in going to a class to learn how. My neighbor/friend has made some (through classes) and I was totally impressed!

My friend/neighbor has been to some bookmaking classes this past month and has made some AWESOME books!!! Like autograph books and photo albums. I'm like WOW!! I'd LOVE to get into that!! I was just over there a few days ago and she showed me 4 of the books she's made recently and I'm like YOU made these? They look so professional and artsy. Doesn't look handmade at all. I'm like WOW!
