Well, I went to the doctor, and I still know nothing. She said she's going to call the healthcare company and talk to them. See what doctors they use and stuff like that. So...I have no idea. She wasn't opposed to the idea...which was good. I just have no clue where to go from here. *sighs* I asked her what I needed to be doing, and she said that there's nothing really I can do until she gets some information from the healthcare co. *double sighs* Amanda

Amanda, I know how frustrating it is to wait. I'm sorry. Just BE PERSISTNET!!. I was due for surgery in Feb, but do to some insurance issues it had to wait until July. That wait was so hard, also. First started this process (not counting a couple years of research) in October, approved in Dec, and now surgery JULY 15!!!!. This is being the hardest month of all-knowing I have a date and it's not here yet. Will be thinking of you.

Wow, can you change your PCP to a doctor that is WLS knowledgable and such? Go to the MO message board and see if there are any dr's in your area that your insurance covers. And you can find out what BARIATRIC surgeons your insurance covers by calling the 800 # on your insurance card or going to their website (i.e. aetna.com, etc). That's how I found out mine at first. This is what you should be doing NOW: * Request copies of your medical records from your PCP for the PAST 5 years. You'll need to fill out a medical release form. Reason for medical records - CONTINUING MEDICAL CARE (that way they don't charge you - some docs charge) * List diets you have tried in past 5 years and how much you lost on them and how much you gained afterwards. * Have PCP write letter of support for surgery listing your co-morbidities (if any), weight, medications you are on and how weight loss surgery will improve your health and help you go off medications and no longer have co-morbidities. That's enough to start. Explore this site (www.obesityhelp.com) for more info - vast info on here! Here are some other helpful sites: vitalady.com bariatriceating.com wlsandyou.com mygastricbypass.com (no www or anything just the http) I know it's frustrating at first, but hang in there! You'll be in the swing of things before you know it!! Hugs, Trisha
